Strait is a interesting dude for me. I remember when he was winning all those entertainer awards back in the day and honestly, I just dont get it. To me, his show was boring. Just a guy up there singing in front of a mic with no real "show" to it. But he brought those people in there and they loved the hell out of him. I guess I just dont get it. He is a very likable guy with his style of country and his longevity. Very wholesome and proud so I totally get why his fanbase loves him so much. Just not really my type of music. My wife loved it so mission accomplished

Strait's career has had a few interesting "segments" to it. When he started out in the early 80s, he was really a nationwide version of a Texas dancehall singer - which is how he got his start. My MIL and FIL saw him play Gruene Hall and other places like that before he broke nationally.

Then he transitioned in the late 80s/early 90s to part of the neotraditionalist grouping with Alan Jackson and Randy Travis.

And now, even though he is making new music, he has cut back on the touring and is more of the classic country role much like George Jones or Merle Haggard did towards the end of their career. He just has the fanbase that is fanatical like Buffett's Parrotheads who will travel from all over to see him, and in large enough numbers to fill stadiums.

And I think the Entertainer of the Year Awards came because his shows were and are boring from that point of view. To adapt a line from Pure Country he doesn't need the smoke and the lights to draw the crowds in.

he people watching was great last night. People at country concerts lose all the restraints when it comes to attire. I thought rock concerts were bad but they are nothing like the shite I saw last night.

And I guarantee that was tame as compared to a Kenny Chesney or Luke Bryan show. But yes, the only concerts better that country shows for people watching are Buffett shows.

I have been to see Chesney a couple times. I love his shows. Saw him on the beach at Ft Lauderdale this year. It was nothing like what I saw last night.

I have been to see Buffet a few times. My first time, I flamed out at the tailgate and never made it to the show. Wasted $300 for tickets. LOL.

Most of those people are old and just don’t GAF.

Chesney and maybe Zac Brown are the only country guys that I will go back over and over.
