2006 Auburn was pretty egregious and hilarious as well.

It was similar to UGA in 2005. Losing to Florida and Auburn, but even if undefeated, I’m not sure they would have jumped Texas and USC.

Shockley spraining his knee against Arkansas easily explains away both of those losses. He missed the Florida game and was immobile against Auburn.

Either way, you're right, that team wouldn't have jumped Texas or USC and I don't think they were good enough to beat either of them anyways.

2005 would be the year that comes to mind and the major reason was the injury to DJ Shockley in the Arkansas game. We were ranked 4th at that time, lost to UF 14-10 using Joe Tereshinski at QB (Who scored our only TD by catching a pass), lost to Aub 31-30 with Shockley playing with a bad leg and forcing a fumble by an Aub player about to score, which then was recovered at the 1 yard line by the Auburn player. They then ran down the clock and kicked the gw FG. Thrashed then #3 LSU in the SEC Championship and then got outplayed by WVU in the Sugar Bowl (held in Atlanta due to Katrina).
