No Bama (played every year since ‘39).
No Auburn (played all but one season since ‘37).
No LSU (played every season since ‘26).
Also no Kentucky who was their annual East rival.
Of the 5 SEC rivals that Miss St has played the most consecutive seasons against, only one will be on their 2024 schedule (Ole Miss).
WTF

Same for South Carolina
No UGA/UT/Florida..only 1 team on their schedule they’ve played more than 40 times and that’s Clemson

Both Mississippi State and South Carolina were not prioritized for the 2024 schedule while the big names in each division were taken care of. Those two got the scraps...it sucks, but it is what it is.

They should be happy. They might be able to win more games and even play, gasp, or be a sleeper for the SEC Championship game. Probably not though.

To be honest the four home games are all winnable.
Not beating Georgia anywhere so it’s better to get them on the road.
Can we win 1 at Texas, ole Miss or Tennessee? Then you are looking at an 8-4/9-3 type season.

I bet State really isn’t pissed to not be playing Alabama, Auburn, and LSU.
Does Mississippi State now run the SEC offices?

I think State is taking the news just fine.

Why does it have an eyeball in its mouth?

Yea we lost Vandy, this is just a placeholder season though. Maybe they’ll do 3 permanent opponents onward and correct some of this.

They gotta play Georgia and the UTs now

Something Texas will never be—a charter SEC member.

State has alums or former ADs as the AD at Bama, UF, and Auburn, plus our own AD now. Sankey's daughter went to State, and former AD Larry Templeton may still be around the SEC offices.

They should have just put OU in the East and Texas in the West and we could have kept our traditions.
