Crazy to think that to a 13 year old, Texas AM has been more relevant than Texas in their lifetime…

ESPN will bend over and do anything for their precious UTa. So, by default, Sankey will as well.

Many of the Big 12 current members refer to Texas as the "Evil Empire."

OP, here is the real reason from an audio interview with Frank Broyles: LINK

This was worth listening to, thanks for sharing. It must have been like Christmas morning to a small child for him when the SEC offered the invitation. It was for me.

SEC nuts are bigger than SWC nuts.

We will be juuuuust fine my yellow bellied friend.

Do you hear of ANY of the other 13 programs scheming a way to run from Alabama?

Are you going to run from UGA and LSU now?

Only notre dame and USC may be the closest to having the same pull that Texas has, but we’ll play nice..

Yep. Funny how every team that ran away from the Big 12 -- while simultaneously blaming us for its downfall -- just happened to have a dismal record against us. And by pure coincidence, they can never clearly articulate why they hate us! They just... do.

Arkansas went 5-15 vs. Texas in the 20 years before leaving the SWC (23-56 overall).
Texas A&M was 5-11 vs. Texas in the Big 12 (35-76 overall).
Missouri was 2-7 vs. Texas in the Big 12 (6-18 overall).

For good measure, Nebraska was 1-9 against Texas in the Big 12 (4-10 overall).

I’m still amazed by the total unwillingness to use logic by little bro whorn fans. How does it make sense to “run away” to a MUCH harder conference? It makes sense to upgrade to a better conference. However if we were truly “running away”, wouldn’t we have gone to C-USA or something?

Does the fact that you moved to the SEC indicate you are running away from Kansas? A simple yes or no will do. Any other response shows tou lack reading comprehension skills along with lack of logic.

Because you were running away from a team you can't stand losing to, toward a conference of teams you're proud to lose to.

The only team we'd be running away from is OU, and they're coming with us.

I'd ask you to explain how I'm revising history, but I know you'll just disappear from the thread.

I love battered Aggy syndrome. Not looking forward to most of the Texas dickbags. Moving from Baton Rouge to Austin in the early 90s was a complete wake up call at how bad the tailgating was. Leave the homeless population in Austin, please.

Let’s be real here for a second.

I get why A&M left. They were in the shadow of Texas and that was going to be hard to change without breaking away and going to a different conference. By doing so, you were able to make your own brand and enhance the image of your school.

Missouri just wanted to find a landing spot. They preferred the B1G but settled on the SEC. Colorado also just wanted a landing spot, ironically.

Arkansas left because they felt cheated, and maybe they were. I don’t really know. But the reality is they were a lot better off in the SWC because of the pipeline from Texas, similar to Oklahoma. I believe that Arkansas will benefit the most by Texas moving to the SEC and renewing that rivalry.

Those schools all do share a substantial losing record against Texas and had they been on the opposite side of that record, perhaps they wouldn’t have moved.

As for the people that say we will suck once we join the SEC.. why does that make sense do you when looking at these numbers?

* Conference Records
