Every athletic department recruits young, aggressive males. Any AD could have this happen as a singular event.

I can’t believe people are using this to impugn the Bama AD. This dude was obviously off the reservation.

Same. I don't even know what to say knowing that it's not a troll or bad joke. Thoughts go out to all involved, especially the family and friends of the one taken too soon.

Nah you just can't fricking read. Dumbfrick. He gets life in prison. Both can be true.

It doesnt fricking matter. You're still going to get heat from it and deservedly so if you bring in a POS like this into your program and he murders someone if you knew beforehand he was a POS and there was a chance this could happen. That's why schools back off kids all the time with character concerns. This post was edited on 1/15 at 6:40 pm

Miles did not have “character concerns” when he was recruited. He was a typical immature 18 year old.

Most of the kids playing for our teams do. That’s not an excuse either

Didn't say it was an excuse. It's just how it is. Thug culture and mental illness both can lead to shite like this.

You can deny it because you're tired of hearing about it, but it's true.

I lean toward thug culture at the root of this one, but I guess we'll find out more about the circumstances in a few days.

I can read. I can also see that you’re a fricking moron trying to blame a school for a students actions.

I guess you had character concerns too, judging from your responses.

I’m not going to buy “mental illness” unless there’s a report from a medical professional saying it was a mental illness. Being a sociopath willing to kill another human being because of a verbal argument doesn’t qualify. That bullshite has to stop. It’s rampant where I’m from too (Memphis) and disgusts me

Oats and Alabama saw the warning signs, ignored them and let the situation snowball until it resulted in homicide. That’s not something happening at reputable programs.

There is obviously a correlation but it’s such a shitty excuse. In my mind, the people who are so mentally compromised that they genuinely cannot see the wrong in killing a person are exactly who need to get the chair

I don’t know what miles is. Maybe is a sociopath, maybe he’s a kid wrapped up in the gang culture plague. Maybe both. Not enough facts are out

Yeah. I just read that it stemmed from a minor argument.

Not only that, but he was with one of his thug friends from DC. You can take the kid out of the ghetto...

The worst part is that she had a small child. frick.
