An American Original taken from us all way too soon. What more can a man ask but to make his mark in life like he did.
RIP .

He was truly one of a kind, hard to find someone who is almost universally liked especially in his line of work. The football world is a little darker now. RIP Pirate.

Prayers to Coach Leach's family, team, staff, and university. The college football world will miss your leadership, knowledge, honesty, humor, and one of a kind wit.
In a conference where rivalries are fierce, he was loved by all. You just couldn't dislike the man. RIP, Pirate, and prayers to our MSU brothers.

Terribly sad, I hate it for his and the MSU family. He was a legend in his own time and now that legend will grow forever.

How bittersweet will the bowl game with an actual pirate ship in the stadium be? I’ll be pulling hard for State.

Just gutted. Doesn’t seem real.

Praying for his family and his MSU family as well.

We all lost a treasure with you today.

Terrible. It's all just so sad. I can't believe he's gone.

I am so glad that he went out with a win, even against us. He went out on top as a champion.

As much as college football will miss him, I am sure his off the field achievements are just as impressive. This morning there are children and grandchildren mourning the loss of a loving father and grandfather. A wife who is longing for one last opportunity to speak with her husband. As much as we will miss the Pirate, please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. The sudden loss of someone like this around the holidays will have a profound effect on them and will be something they remember every time the holiday season rolls around. On top of this the young men he led on the field will be affected as well.
Sail on Pirate! May the bounty be good and the winds always bi in your favor! Thanks for all you provided to both us, your teams, and your family! Godspeed!
