...but this year's Bama team is the most disappointing of Saban's tenure. 2010 was disappointing too, but that team at least had the excuse of having just won the NC the year before. This year's team got beaten in the NC game last season, so you'd think they would have good reason to be more focused and dialed in this year. Instead, we look even less organized, motivated, and combobulated than we did in 2021. That's coaching, plain and simple.

Penalties through the roof. Game plans that are pathetically bad. Absolutely zero in-game adjustments to speak of. Poor tackling. Mental errors everywhere. No fire. No passion. No leadership. Just a whole sideline of people milling around aimlessly waiting on Bryce Young to bail them out, time after time after time.

I'm not calling out Saban because duh. If the man wants to milk his accomplishments and coast to a ten million dollar paycheck every year for the next ten years, it isn't like he hasn't earned that right. But if you're gonna do that, Coach, at least hire some halfway-decent coordinators and assistants to mind the ship for you. These bumblefricks roaming our sidelines now are fricking shite up, big time.

Why? They were told by the coach it wasn’t their fault, just bad injury luck. They didn’t need to change.

The program is currently on a pretty clear downward trajectory. He's got this offseason to fix it in terms of staff, but I'm not sure he thinks the defensive coaching is an issue, incredibly. We'll find out I guess. BoB is going to be gone, though, at least.

But it's more than that. The program isn't tough anymore, isn't disciplined and isn't built around faceless men who perform like robots. He talks about mental pressures and anxiety, talks about how hard the kids are working and how bad they want to win, discusses personal value, etc etc. I dunno if it's the age thing or the NIL thing or what, but the entire structure of the program has changed and the results are pretty clearly showing that the change was negative. I'm not sure he has the ability to get that back at this point in his career.

Heading into the season I legitimately thought this might be the team to go 15-0. I expected dominance. Retribution even. Womp Womp Womp.

I don’t fully disagree with everything but does one point make that much of a difference?

It took two absolute magical environments and inspired quality opponents to knock Bama in the final play of each game. Is that really that bad?

Other programs can improve also, maybe that has something to do with it also.

I think Bama is fine and people are over reacting. It just won’t be as easy as other teams get better.

How are Bama's D-linemen and O-linemen compared to last year and prior?

That seemed to be where Bama excelled the most and why they were so dominant for over a decade.

Saban needs to clean house. His coordinators are horrid at pretty much every position

Saban's staff has been a revolving door of coordinators in his tenure. No one bats 1.000 but Saban has the highest average when hiring assistants of any coach I've seen. That said Golding and BOB have been misses. Question is can he do the correct thing and replace or is he going to be stubborn and loyal and stick by them?

Gonna be an interesting offseason for Bama imo, there's gotta be some serious self evaluation for everyone on the staff

Nick was incredibly lucky every threatening SEC team in his tenure besides Florida in the beginning was coached by a retard. And now you arent the only team that can buy players. This is your new reality.

THE ALIGNMENT IS SINCERE

Without Bryce, you are looking at a 4 loss bama team

UGA is the new top program in the SEC. Ironically, Kirby did it by following the blueprint of old bama teams - physical, run the ball and play tough “make their arse quit” defense. Saban’s teams don’t look like that anymore

I mean until recruiting really takes a hit I don't really see it just yet. A Few adjustments in the off season they'll be right back in the thick of things. Unless the talent they're bringing in has been miss evaluated I think it has to do more with his staff.

Do think a lot of it is that Kirby Smart is recruiting better players away from Bama? You have to give Kirby credit that Ga team is far ahead of the rest of the SEC. Bama hasn’t looked good all season for the talent level on that team.

I agree. The most disappointing since the Bear quit 40 years ago.

So who do you think your next coach will be? Jimbo?

Brutal honesty from the NY Post

quote:

Alabama won’t even sniff the playoff this year, with two conference losses in the same season for just the second time since 2011.

quote:

the most disappointing season of Nick Saban’s dominance in TuscaLucy

and the coup de gràce:

quote:

Really, Alabama is fortunate it only has two losses. It was outplayed by mediocre Texas, sans starting quarterback Quinn Ewers in a narrow road win. It nearly lost at home to three-win Texas A&M. That high-scoring loss at Tennessee doesn’t look as good after the Volunteers were manhandled by Georgia on Saturday. Had Alabama escaped LSU, and somehow run the table to earn a trip to the SEC title game, it would’ve only been setting itself up to get destroyed by the far better and deeper Bulldogs.
