Everyone talks about “high floor/low ceiling” or “medium floor/high ceiling”hires.

Prime is a “no floor/no ceiling” type gamble. He will either succeed beyond our wildest dreams, or flame out in the most spectacular disaster imaginable.

But even if he flames out, he will leave an uber-talented roster behind. That's literally what happened with Chizik - the talent he left over allowed Malzahn to almost with the title in his very first season. Malzahn never sniffed that level of success again.

So Deion isn't even that big a "risk" for that reason alone. Yes, there is the transfer portal and players can leave, but it's not like your entire roster is going to get up and transfer out. So even if he fails, you are better off than where we are today.

That's the point that needs to be realized: we are currently 3-10 over our past 13 games, and the talent on this roster is GONE. What's the worst case scenario with Deion? You go 3-10 but he leaves a roster full of 5-stars? You're already at the worst possible scenario.

I've got some news for you...there's a thing called the transfer portal now. So basically, you serve the wrong kinda grilled cheese sandwich, some coach says ugly words to your face, or your old coach leaves, and you can step in the magic portal and be somewhere new by morning.

ETA- Prime is electric enough, he could take a bunch with.

Serious question: why wouldn’t they?

I mean, the assumption that Prime would bring in talent is based on a lot of current prospects saying they would flip their commitments to come play for him. If he goes 0-8 in SEC play in year 3 and we fire him, why would they stick around?

Are you ensuring he'll be top 2 in recruiting?

That's a gamble in itself. Sounds like the omly reason fans want him is his ability to recruit, not coach.

Coaching is kinda the primary job. Coaches win games without a roster full of five star. Ya'll make it sound like we'll be getting 20 5* recruits.

Ain't gonna happen. And that's a hell of a gamble.
