True/False
(I was very wrong with my prediction on this game, nothing new)

Cincinnati would beat Michigan

Neither deserved to be in. Should’ve been three teams from the SEC West and Georgia. No way does the playoffs need to be expanded.

Nah, I think it would be a close game. All today proved is what is true most years, the CFP was created to solve a problem that doesn’t really exist. It’s uncommon there more than 2 teams worthy of winning a natty.

Bump. Interesting stuff. I find the ones saying false are crazy, but the ones saying neither belonged have a good argument

Neither team deserved to be in but I'll go with true to answer your question.

False at least Michigan plays in a P5 conference.

I cant remember who finished 5th in the final rankings.

Cincinnati was overmatched but they didn't embarrass themselves when things started getting away from them.
Michigan embarrassed themselves once Georgia punched them in the mouth. Fumbles, horrible INTs, just stopping running multiple times. They looked shell shocked.

Bama beat them down but Cincinnati is a much better team than this board gives them credit for.

Both deserved it. Alabama and Georgia are just that much better, imo.

Cincy deserved to be there. Solid team. Held up better than Michigan for sure.
When their offense clicks, it's legit. Bama's D-line was just too disruptive to let Cincy get anything going on offense. That was the difference in the game, and that level of D-line play is what usually sets the SEC apart from the rest of the country, so no big surprise there.
But in the end Cincinnati held up as well as anyone else would have. Honestly, a solid showing by a G5 team, and I think the door to the playoffs will remain open for G5 teams in the future after today. Competing better than a #2 ranked Big 10 champion Michigan says a hell of a lot.

Big No on Cincy over Michigan.
Ohio State has the talent to beat anyone in college football. They manhandled them. Played in arguably the best conference and worst deficit coming into this game all year was 4. They were legit.
The narrative before A&M/Bama game was right. Two teams and then a gap.
Hoping for a different outcome next time. I think we can play better. Will that be enough? Not sure.

From what I've seen, Bama and Georgia are on an entirely different level.
For a Big Ten team (or anyone else) to contend with them, you'd have needed to combine programs. Like some weird Ohio State/Wisconsin or Ohio State/Minnesota amalgam. tOSU's skill players, Minnesota's lineplay. Which is idiotic. And still probably not enough unless someone could magic Ibrahim's achilles back.
Recruiting matters. The talent difference from the top 2 to the top 7 or 8 is a bigger gulf than 10 to top 30.
