I think he's waiting to see on his ACT scores, although I know there is a certain day you have to sign by, so I'm not sure if he'll get the results by then. Man, if this kid could make his grades and we could reel him in, he's got the potential to be a serious playmaker for us.
Signing period is through mid April. Plenty of time to get his ACT scores back.

what chance would we actually have with him. He seems high on A&M but is he really liking auburn?
TAMU can't accept Griffin. They used all of their NLI spots. They never even sent Griffin a letter to sign. At this point it's Auburn or juco

Latest from JH is he expects Auburn to sign Griffin and place him in juco.

Sign and place sounds about right. Hopefully he gets things together and contributes later down the line.

Does a sign-and-place bind the player to the four-year university (in other words, if we signed Griffin, does he HAVE to re-sign with us in a year or two?)?

I do not believe it does. I'm unsure about the specifics of JUCO but doesn't accepting that route mean two years minimum in a junior college?

Not from what I understand. It is simply a way for coaches to say we were there for you from the beginning. Frequently, though, sign and places end up elsewhere, for example, Jaquay Williams.

No. Doesn't bind him to anything.

True, but we've had a couple that have really worked out for us in the past few years - Fairley and Omac.

If you go to JUCO, you must graduate in order to eligible at a four-year school... however long that takes. Some guys redshirt while at JUCO (two of our JUCO signees did that) and have 3-years of eligibility left, but most players need at least 4 semesters to graduate from 2 year school.

OMac wasn't a JUCO transfer. We got him straight out of Fort Meade.

No, he went to prep school. Hargraves I think. And he wasn't from Opelika.

Thats all it is, sign them and place them at an instution the school recomends. The recruit is free to go wherever a year later. I dont like the use of it now, since you can back count again

Nice edit, but he still went to Hargraves for a year.

Yeah. I got him mixed up with Corey Grant I think. And McCalleb was from Fort Meade Middle-Senior High School in Florida. And Hargraves for a year, haha.

I am pretty sure thats only if you were actually enrolled in a four year school prior to Juco. All you need is one full year and passing grades if not

OMac went to prep school at Hargrave Military Acadamy. He went to high school in Florida.

But you can't back count to replace nonqualifiers. With that said Griffin is a special talent and signing him now has a descent chance of paying off in 2 years.

I'm ignorant on this but this just seems like a stupid rule. If the kid signs and goes juco, you lose that spot and he doesn't have to come back to that school. Either make the kid come to the school he signed with or give the Scholly back. Just seems dumb and screws the university.

you can thank Houston Nutt and the over-reaction of the SEC and media for that rule... I agree. why it matters in the first place is beyond me.
