Would Gus hire Briles as OC? How would the fanbase react?

Could Gus put his ego aside and hire somebody who is more highly regarded of an offensive coach than himself?

Malzahn and Briles are friends. Maybe they could come to a mutual agreement: Malzahn helps Briles get his career back, Briles helps Malzahn get his program back on track and keep his job.

This move would basically lock up Jarrett Stidham for us. Add that QB and Briles input to our skill players and suddenly we have a dangerous offense. Any scenario other than bringing Briles to Auburn and Stidham ends up in College Station extending Sumlin's career.

Of course, like with Muschamp, this situation may only last for 1 year. But we still may have another year with Stidham, and by then you have Woody Barrett going into year 3 and Joey Gatewood on campus, so hopefully we'd still have the players at QB to get back to the type of offense we had with Marshall and Newton.

This is all contingent on Gus being able to part with his adopted son. That may be what ends up killing Malzahn's career

Kansas will hire Art Briles as HC.

We might be able to very his son as OC. But Gus will not fire his beloved Rhett. So we are fricked.

I would be overjoyed with Briles as an OC.

I would too, but it wont happen. Him and Steele together would be funny. Both are older than Gus.

The day we hire a POS like Briles is the day I stop following the football team.

I would hope most fans put their school over W-L record of a football team.

Who's going to hire him as a HC right now?

Maybe a sun belt team. I saw Kansas mentioned. They're worse than Baylor was when Briles took over, except Kansas has 0 potential.

OC for AU for a year would not be a bad move to help rehab his image and get a quicker path back to a decent P5 school.

I would have a tough time disciplining young men who don't have charges against them too. Everything I ever read said that Baylor supposedly knew about it but there weren't charges against the guys. Then the one lineman got sentenced to about 20 years and then another guy got charged finally.

I'm not of the mindset that it is the university's responsibility to have to investigate these type of criminal actions, that is the law enforcement's responsibility.

I don't want anyone needing a "image rehab" coaching at Auburn. Especially the kind of baggage Briles brings. Will never happen.

Mangino had ONE good season in which he got lucky with a shite schedule in a down year for all of CFB. They played ONE ranked team in the regular season, #24 Kansas State and it was close. He never lost less than 5 games any other year and was only 2 games over .500 in 8 years, and .350 in Big 12.

Name one player other than Aqib Talib who came off that team and was worth a shite.

Why do that? Briles will be a HC again soon. Bringing him in would be a band-aid and Gus needs an overhaul. Plus all of the scrutiny we would get..................

He had one great season in 2007. He brought them a winning record and he did it with below average players.
Kerry Meier was drafted by the Falcons

Based on your actual knowledge?

Do you have any real insight, or was your wife looking over your shoulder when you were typing?

I would bet Gene's Chin's annual salary on the latter. Lol

I'd consider hiring Briles immediately as a consultant. the same way Saban hired Sarkisian. Let Briles come teach Lashlee some stuff and help get this offensive shite show on the road to repair.

The talk among insiders a few weeks ago was that Kendall Briles would be coming in next year to replace Lashlee. Whether this is still the plan with Malzahn being a dead man walking is unknown (Malzahn may not even make it through this year).
