What kind of head coach could Auburn get right now?

Lots of discussion right now and I think everyone agrees that a change is needed. With the current situation at Auburn Athletics right now, who could we get

My fear is, no one good. We are not going to attract a experienced, top tier coach right now to this dumpster fire. With all the allegations and constant news coming out daily about every sport being in turmoil, I just dont see anyone with any reputation coming here.

We could attract a young, enthusiastic coach and maybe that is what we need but for the people putting out names like Chip Kelly, James Franklin and Gary Patterson, I think you are dreaming.

If JJ goes and we clean house with Yella Fella and Co. then we would be much more enticing to coaches.

Cut JJ and Gus’s pay.

Why are contracts so one sided?

Quit giving so much for mediocrity.

Incentivize all contracts

$7 million NC
$5 million for SEC
$3 million for 10 wins or more
$1 million for winning season
$350000 for losers

I agree but Yella Fella and Co are going no where. You dont take money out of your pocket.

We can fire JJ and Gus but the bullshite is still out there. It wont give us a clean slate on the Athletics. I know coaches are concerned with the sport they are hired at but the overall stability and perception of the program in general is important.

You’re never gonna get everyone to step back and “leave the program alone”,... they love Auburn like you do, and give significant amounts of money at an attempt to get the program to a level that we all want it to be at.

With that being said, if we’re talking realistic coaches that we could get,.. I would take Scott Frost or PJ Fleck in a heartbeat over the Gus bus

Would Brett Venables leave Clemson?

I would gladly give these guys a shot:

Brent Venables (He would run to AU for HC job and has lots of Championship experience at Clem
And Okla)

Dino Babers
Derek Mason
Bill Clark
Neal Brown
Jeff Brohm

ANY of these is MUCH better than our Head Clown. I’m OCD and CANNOT STAND incompetence and he has driven me crazy since FSU honestly. My worst fears have been realized as we have now had MANY games just like FSU. He is all “smoke and mirrors.” Beats the hell out of most bad teams (with a few Jax St / Mercer exceptions) and chokes away all the good games.

At this point I don't give a frick who it is

Just need a change.

Right now we are seeing gus will not get us over the hump and continue to lose games we should win

We are not trending the right direction.

Every school has big boosters that pay big money and get respect. Yella is no different and no more of an issue than any other school.

Right now we need JJ gone and we need a new AD that is perceived as clean and fair. Then we can reach out for whoever we want and we stand a decent chance at whoever is willing to square off with Saban.

Honestly, you would need a solid AD hire before you got to this point.

What decent HC would take a job knowing the guy who brought him in is on the way out?

Why hire another unproven HC. That is basically what we have done with the last two HC's?

We won't be able to bring in a big name. We are too much of a mess. We would need to find a quality mid-major type HC who is a good coach and is looking for a good payday, IMO.

We need to truly do a national search and make a bunch of Gary Patterson types tell us no.

No we aren't.

If we had a coach that would run more than 4 plays on offense, we are a top 10 team

Like I said we have to make them say no. Is it that crazy to throw major bank at. Proven winners after Gus huge extension based on 2 fricking miracle plays.

People like GP aren't "YES MEN." That's why we hired Chiz and Gus. We have to cut out the bad roots before another HC is hired. Period.

It's been a LONG TIME coming
