we can see how Gus approaches the season next year.

We have seen this show before. It will be just like this year.

We will try for a juco. If we fail, we are fricked because we cannot develop any qbs.

Either way, QB competition until the end of August. Same shite every year. It would be nice for the team to get behind a guys for a full year of practice

Exactly. Did everyone not just see that LSU had to hire Orgeron? A lot of you need to chill the f out.

Are there reasons to be upset? Sure, Gus has been here 4 years and we barely have one SEC caliber QB. It's something that is pathetic and has to improve. That said, a healthy Pettway and White all season (and starting) and we are 10-2, or 11-1. The defense was phenomenal. The running game is solid. Next year we should have a legit backup in Woody (or White). I'm expecting Pettway and KJ to be back. Our WR will be better. The DLine will take a big hit, but we have the depth. We have a legit superstar OL recruit.

That said, don't let me stand in the way of your temper tantrums. We lost a game that we all knew we would lose, so of course we should freak out and fire everyone.

We have, but we don't have much choice.

You're being short-sighted in the sense that we could hire someone now just for the sake of getting rid of Gus, then be kind of pissed if a slam dunk hire is available the very next year, but now we have this whole new staff with buyouts just because we were tired of watching Gus chew bubblegum on the sidelines.

FYI this is not an argument.

The fact everyone already knew we would lose the iron bowl and pretty sure we would blow it vs uga is a symptom of the problem.

Knowing you suck is not an excuse for sucking.

Auburn CAN eat a mega buyout. But it HAS to be for a proven coach. We ate a buyout for Chizik and we ate a buyout for Gusbus.

Unless a well paid, successful coach has a mistress that his wife is making him move away from, it ain't happening this year

It's just being prudent. Make a move when you have a successor lined up, or you're going to end up with troys coach or bill Clark or something. May not be much worse but I highly doubt it would warrant the $$$ to buy everyone out.

He gets it.

We are in a better position allowing Gus to coach next year with a plan in place to make a change if he doesn't live up to expectations. LSU could have very well hired their own version of Chizik. TBD.

If you have a solution, let's hear it!! Firing someone because you're mad at them, without a backup plan, is a great way to make the situation worse.

Look at UGA and LSU as examples.

All I know is the coaching contracts should be predominantly RESULTS ORIENTED!

I'm ok with paying loads of money for championships, but there should be a GIVEBACK when the losses mount up.

Losing to Bama is not the end of the world, but the last 2 UGA teams were awful.

If you want results oriented, then offer a solution.

Solution = Chip Kelly. Sucking wind in the NFL (1-10 record this year). But he can win here.

Tell me about his recruiting ties in the SEC.

And when he was at Oregon, who did he have to recruit against?

Already next year, it looks like we'll be competing against Tennessee and Notre Dame for a new HC. Potentially Texas Tech. Last years offseason wasn't a favorable scenario either for hiring. So we can't always rely on waiting for next year by thinking it will be easier to hire a coach. One benefit of finding a new coach now is the two biggest schools (Texas and LSU) have already hired their guy.

Look at JJs and Gouges track record of hiring coaches. Need the new president on board before going down that path. Also, 8-4 should not get you fired, YET. Over the last 4 years Auburn's record is as good as other teams in the SEC.

Tell me about Malzahn's recruiting ties to the SEC before he got here.

Malzahn may very well be a decent recruiter, but he isn't the only reason we get good recruits.

I'm not saying that we should absolutely fire Gus. But this program needs a strategic assessment with a concrete action plan. JJ, Gogue, and/or a huddle of boosters needs to hold court and make Gus present it.

If it sounds plausible and something like real change, give him another year. If not, he needs a moving van in his driveway before the first full week of December ends.

I have been at the C-level for over 15 years. It's Results or Move on. With the kind of money that's at stake here, I can't understand why it should be any different.

It's not an emotional decision. Ever. Or shouldn't be. The employee (Gus) makes the decision.

...and excuses like injuries should not be a factor in this. Elite CEO's have contingency plans. Elite CEO's also manage their messaging a lot better.

Gus may be incredibly intelligent. I honestly don't know. But I've seen some incredibly intelligent individuals fail miserably at leadership and marshaling men to action.
