Tubs is one hell of a salesman. This can never be denied.

Would he make a good AD? Probably not.

NO

A $100 million enterprise needs a sophisticated business man to execute short term, intermediate term and long term plans.

I would rather have someone from a totally unrelated field than a coach.

Look for executives in sports, recreation, entertainment and hospitality.

Tubs didn't mind firing the OC or DC when things went south and hiring a replacement. but when it came to folks like Nall. Gran. Dunn. etc that had been with him since seemingly forever he just couldn't pull the trigger.

Let that sink in folks if Tubs becomes the next AD our next Head Coach could very likely be Hugh Nall.........I know I had the same thought

Part of Tuberville's loyalty to those guys had at least a little to do with vesting in the state's retirement system. It takes 10 years of service, which I think were all really close. It definitely makes a difference.

History has proven to be kind to Tommy Tuberville. I always liked him, but he should not be the AD for Auburn University.

I love Tubs, but no to AD. This needs to be a professional administrator with a proven track record of solid hires and good fundraising etc. Auburn Athletics is big business. It needs a legit executive CEO.

Its way past the era where former coaches are qualified to be Athletic Director at a major college. These days the AD at a school like Auburn is essentially the CEO of a multimillion dollar business. You need a businessman, not a coach.

But those saying no just because "nobody with any AU connections" must not be old enough to remember the Tubs era very well. Tubs could not stand the BOT and good ole boys network. He was not afraid to stand up to them and basically gave them the finger every chance he got. He even kept Dye away from his program. Theres a reason that the network tried to get rid of Tubs at every opportunity, because hes the only AU football HC in my lifetime to stand up to the good ol boys.

I'm in no way advocating for Tubs to get this job, because he is not remotely qualified, but if ever we were going to hire somebody with a connection to AU, Tubs is the guy you should have no problem with.

If Tubs were AD we would have Sexton starting rumors every year that he was about to be hired away for another job.

I'll take Tubs as AD anyway. He is good at fund raising and is an excellent representative for Auburn athletics.

You haters need to get the frick over the "but Tubs didn't recruit" bullshite

Are you serious? There is nothing to support this and plenty to suggest he'd fail in fundraising

Auburn money people tried to run him out of town and then actually did can him only 1 year removed from a streak of 4 straight top 15 seasons, SEC Championship + undefeated season

excellent representative

We have different definitions of excellent representatives

Fine, he is a prick who has had fan bases hate him at his last two coaching stops and has nothing to suggest he could succeed as AD

Dude come on. You have no idea what your talking about here.

If we hire Tommy Tubberville as AD, it would be one of the worst hires we could make

You guys are undoubtedly right.

But my experience with auburn was it has wonderful people, probably the best people (like yall), but there is always a group of our betters there who squeeze the life out of it from the top.

I'd take Tubs rather than a no name because the chances of hiring a legit AD with these folks are slim and Tubs is a known.

Just imho.

A big old "Nope!" from me. Tubs has no experience or qualifications to run an athletic department. His past ventures in business and finance have been, well, less than covered in success and glory. And he's essentially quit at his last three jobs as head coach. Pass.
