It appears that Tubs has began his campaign to become Auburn's AD. He was on a Montgomery radio show with Doug Amos & Charlie Trotman and made a few statements of note. I don't have exact quotes, but he essentially said that he would love to be an athletic director. He gave reasons why he would be great, pretty much saying he'd put football first and avoid scandals in all sports. He then went on without any prompting from the hosts to talk about the mess at Auburn with basketball, softball, etc.

Sadly I think a lot of AU fans will want this.

This is a guy who was too busy duck hunting to go after recruits and we think he can do a good job as AD?

The only reason Tuberville wouldn't be a train wreck is because our AD now has multiple C level officers who can run the whole thing despite his incompetence

If we are going to get a former coach AD, Chizik > Tuberville anyways. represent. He just would be a face and no hands in operations, I trust him in that role

I love Tubs, but I would rather have him as governor than AD. I hope that we hire someone that has proven themselves as an AD.

The AD's job is to fundraise. The guy who didn't like recruiting is going to all of a sudden like fundraising?

Not sure how to feel about this. Was kind of enjoying having things to be excited about year round.

Yeah that sounds suspiciously like football will be the only priority and the rest is whatever.

I like the thought of making the NCAA BB tournament, I like(d) having the premiere swimming program in the country that kids from all over the world would flock to - these are good for the university.

To put his comments in better context, he said that football pays all the other sports bills and for that reason it should be first priority.

Not so much anymore since the SEC network and big dollars from UA. This is the thing I would give JJ credit for. He got the job cause of this. Today it is more important to find a person who can run the AD like a Fortune 500 company and build it into a brand.

You mean the guy who was swindled by Donnan LINK and was sued himself? You want the guy who has connections to old school folks? YOu want someone who has never managed a major corporation? F NO>>>>

MONTGOMERY, Alabama - Tommy Tuberville has been listed in a federal suit that alleges the former Auburn coach and his partner defrauded investors out of more than $1.7 million.

The complaint, filed Friday afternoon in the in U.S. District Court in Montgomery, claims Tuberville and TS Capital co-founder John David Stroud "employed devices, schemes, and artifices" to commit fraud. Seven plaintiffs from Alabama and Tennessee are seeking damages against the Auburn-based investment company.

This. 30 years ago, AD was just another title you could pin of the football HC (or basketball for ACC schools). Now it's a different skillset, much more fundraising and compliance oversight. Besides, do you think Gus or any other football HC we hire would want Tubs looking over his shoulder?

i'll never understand why folks want him as AD its been a strange obsession for the majority of Tubs supporters since 08 . I give tubs credit for 04 and for owning bammer during the era of Mike (Mike Shula. Mike Dubose. and Mike Price.) but i'd rather see Tony Franklin. Ted Roof. and Lefty walking the sidelines for Auburn again before making Tubs AD

I don't know what makes a good AD, so I'll let all of you message board experts work this out.
