I was happy with our defense. Offense was SHITE.
Marshall had a crappy game and we dropped too many passes AGAIN. Where was Melvin Ray last night?
I thought Marshall played his worst game as a Tiger. second week in a row he's played not his best. Worrying.

That team was well coached. They were also smaller, slower, and less athletic than any defense we will play this year. KSU knew how to stop our rush because they run a similar option. They knew what Corey Grant and Ricardo Louis were going to do on the perimeter and our blocking suffered as a result. Nick Marshall also failed to keep their linebackers honest in the game because their d-line was getting a hand on Nick's low passes thrown over them.
I know everyone is leaning on the "we beat a top 20 team on the road" thing and that's nice ammo for the rant but @Miss State @Ole Miss @Georgia and @Alabama are also potentially top 20 teams on the road. And they aren't going to miss like KSU did time and time again.
The win was good though, had a blast watching the game and that's all that matters. It reminded me of the brand of Auburn football that I grew up with.

Agree minus the speed part. They are built to counter the spread O's. Small LBers, and D ends. We couldn't run east and west, and it killed our running game. It was the first time Nick was made to throw. He looked terrible in the first half, but adjusted in the second. I feel like this will help going forward.

They were also the best tackling team I've seen in a number of years

I posted this only because well we did. I think the rest of the paragraph is something captain obvious would say.
Look, the point of my thread is I know this win was ugly and we got some breaks. I also can find many things to criticize about the game, but have decided to just move on this time. There are so many variables surrounding this game. That's why I am looking to the LSU game as a better barometer of where we are as a team.
It really was a fun game for me as well.

Reed showed out a little.
That one pass deflection over Lockett's head was seriously All-American.
The interception, while a mistake from the QB, was a very heads up play as well.

He played great. He has some speed and was on that receiver like a glove it seemed(Stole that from you Rocky). Held a few times but I was impressed with him this game. Hope it continues. The pick by him was beautiful.

It was a QB mistake but his play on the ball was exceptional. That catch was dirty.

1. There defense *was* slow overall, but they had a pair of LBs that were actually pretty quick.
2. Blocked passes aren't always the QBs fault. The OL should be engaging those DL to try to keep them from getting their hands up.
The OL was the area of the team whose performance disappointed me most last night.

The DL needs to stop acting like they are speed rushers, unless they are speed rushers. LO, Cass, and Kennion can speed rush. The rest need to stop running up field so much on 3rd down, start a little wider, and rush in to collapse the pocket some. Then they will easily be able to peal off and get the QB. Lambert or Gabe do not try and rush around the DT

Personally, I was a wreck. Note to self, stop drinking 5 hours before the game.

I can't explain it but I was extremely calm. I don't think it had anything to do with my trip to Colorado early this week either...

shite, I would have been calm, too.

Should I be expecting a FedEx Delivery buddy-ole-pal?

Yea, I was awful during that game.
too much bourbon mixed with my already natural inclination to get waaaaay too into games was bad.
Didn't help that I was expecting to watch the game with maybe 3-4 friends, then all of a sudden there were 15 people at my house that I had only met once or twice, who really didn't care about the game. I was leering at a lot of people last night

Oh, the hell with that.

There were definitely some moments where I was surprised how little push we were getting on their D-line, though they did stack the box for most of the game.
I miss having Kozan out there a lot.

Yea, I was real close to doing that. Had the shotgun in my room

I think they were okay. Their DL didn't make that many plays. For the most part, it was DB's or an OLB crashing in that stopped our running plays. Nick missed a lot of reads (maybe they were called runs) that if he would have pulled it, would have been very long runs.
