I agree. Most teams load the box, to stop the run, when the O has a QB that can throw it consistently downfield.

Bull crap. Teams don't respect our passing at all and that makes running difficult. Those of you blaming our OL, why do you think we can't seem to get any positive plays on the sweep? It's not because Corey Grant is slow. It's because they see it coming from a mile away and our playcalling with Nick is incredibly predictable

Team JJ. The sample size on NM is enough for me to say he is an average QB. Great ath, but his skills are very specilized.

I'll just trust Gus. I bet he knows more than anybody here

JJ just gets lucky when he gets in.

The o-line is just taking it easy prior to SEC play.

The read-option will be our bread and butter again, we're just hiding it.

Marshall is waiting to place his good throws when they mean the most.

I'm sure Gus is seeing this trend as well. Hopefully seniority doesn't reign the day.

It was last year, but the difference was the OL. I'm sure you remember AU shattering the SEC rushing record, no? I guarantee the opposing sideline knew AU would rush 70-80% of the time.

Thank you...I was going to answer that dumb arse post myself with a similar answer. It's like 2013 didn't even happen...

I knew this place had some people lacking in football knowledge, but if you honestly think JJ is the answer for this offense, you're a football idiot, IMO.

That's laughable. If you can't see the shortcomings of this team compared to last year, you sir lack "football knowledge". But I'm sure we'll see during the meat of SEC play if NM is starting and two 1st round draft picks are out on the edges flailing around trying to block for the read-option.

The OL was better last year, yes.....but we sorely miss Prosch. He is the X factor, IMO.

Prosch was very effective, but you have to be effective in the trenches first for any of it to work.

All of this..

Without the OL blowing the DL off the ball, those second level blocks are nearly impossible to seal.

I'm not a NM hater, he was awesome for AU last year. It just seems circumstances have changed and Gus will have to run a dual QB scheme at the very least.

Oh no, by all means, answer it, genius.

Of course our OL isn't as good. I'm merely pointing out it isn't the only reason we aren't making plays in the running game. We aren't making plays on the edge because - again - they don't respect the pass.

Was Nick a better passer last year? How did it work when everyone knew that we were going to run?
