All the way back in the 1970's, a bammer QB brought over his brand new red Corvette to show my sister. He got it for signing. A few years later, a dirt poor kid from down the road signed with bammer. A 924 suddenly appeared at their little shack, which also got fancy landscaping, paint, and other improvements. Later, his brother signed and a BMW appeared there.
A year or two later, I got to AU and found Bo with no car at all, and a collection of typical student cars with a handful of decent but not ostentatious cars in the Sewell Hall parking lot.
Last of all, answer this - If we were paying players at that level under CPD, why didn't we just pay Ramsey too instead of co-signing a freaking LOAN for $5k for him? Oh, and we gave him a box of frozen steaks.
AU, and most programs, were jay-walking and breaking the speed limit some, bammer was driving drunk down the wrong side of the road at 120 MPH spraying bullets. There's a difference in magnitude, and it all came together under Saban/Emmert. Anyone who equates them just doesn't have a brain.

Auburn coaches farted and the NCAA was trying to smell test it for a violation.
Sabear promised whatever it took to get who he wanted and the contractors provided it through the laundering of the benefits.
