No coach calls a play to turn the ball over. Trying to blame him that is dumb.

Obviously not but my point is we seem to have a tendency to start slow at times in bigger games. Turning it over on the first possession is an example of that and we have done it 4 times, with 3 of those happening against ranked teams

Every SEC game is a "big game", so I don't really wan't to see examples of us starting slow in "big games" because they're all big.

We have a tendency to get behind early due to turnovers. That's a tangible issue that can be debated. Now politely shut your fricking mouth, grab your mother's tit, and take a nap.

Off topic, but I love the fact Bama can't play a shitty schedule, and back into the title game anymore. This playoff system has changed the sport, for the better.

This. We actually got ahead in the Georgia game, then turnovers in form of a fumble and essentially a turnover by roughing the kicker, lost it.

Fun fact, we committed a turnover in the first quarter of every game we lost except Wisconsin. We committed a turnover on the first drive of 3 games we lost. We essentially committed 2 turnovers in the first quarter of 2 games we lost (roughing the punter = turnover)

Bama comment aside, the playoff certainly seems like a success. I think it would have been FSU vs Bama so the playoff certainly seems to have given us the best title game.

Agree 100-%... Last year, Bama would have been in the playoff and had a good chance to win.

THIS is what concerns me. We seem to always come out slow under Gus in big games. Also I just don't see much fire or intensity out of our guys. That LSU game showed what this team could be when they played angry.

I put the "Starting Slow" on the players more than the coaches. As a competitor if you need a damn coach to get you fired up for a game then something's fricking wrong

I think that our coaching staff didnt do a good job of motivating this team. We returned enough talent to make the playoffs yet we failed time and again. We found a way to lose almost every game whether it was turnovers, costly penalties, boneheaded play calling and abysmal defense. Last year, find a way to win was the mantra and the team bought in and did just that.
This year, not so much. Being 13 seconds better bred entitlement in these kids. Hell, we even had players say that it wont be hard to get to the SECCG and that NM would win the Heisman. This years team found ways to lose games, which means lack of leadership and motivation.

First, look up the definition of always. Second, let's take a look at all those other "big games coming out slow" moments.
quote:

Like Bama 2013 (down 21-7)
we were up 7-0. You need to pick a timeframe of "coming out." Going all the way to 3 minutes left in the half, and then ignoring the rest of the half where Auburn scored to make it 21-14 doesn't fit your narrative. And then using the 2014 IB and completely ignoring the second quarter because it doesn't fit your narrative seems a bit hypocritical.

Are you saying Auburn doesn't blow every fricking team out in the first half in big games? What kind of ridiculous standards do you think college football coaches should be held to?
quote:

Like South Carolina 2014
Huh? I guess I missed the part where we were ever down by more than one score. And now scoring 21 first half points is coming out slow? I'm not sure how you survived the Tuberville years.

Now let's address Ole Miss, Arkansas, LSU, & KSU in 2014 where Auburn led for the majority of each game and was never down by more than one score in the first half.

Then we can talk about FSU, UGA, Ole Miss, & Missouri from 2013.

Maybe move on to the debate that some teams are actually good and Auburn can't blow every team out within the first 30 minutes of a game like you can do on your Xbox.

And finally, we can readdress your definition of always.

I was about to post a similar response but with less detail and internet smackdown. Good work.

If we field a top 50 defense we wouldn't have posts like that. I think it only looks like we're coming out of the gate slow b/c our defense has been so terrible

Yeah a lot of these guys are overracting and melting hard. Offensively I thought we did pretty good, not as great as last year but still a top 20 offense. Defensively from the beginning half of the season took a big tumble and never stopped. If you cant be excited with a top offense next year along with a big time D Coordinator leading the defense then I dont know what to say. Lets see how it plays out.

I can agree with this, but I agree with Lanier that Gus needs to be able to shoulder some blame publicly. I also like what Jonesy said in another thread about Gus's experience. I think we are fine overall and need to improve in several areas.

Lowspark is right though, there are no clear favorites going into the 2015 season.

I still have confidence in Gus and I am looking forward to year three.

I think we can be really good next year, providing........If we get better DL play. If we get bett......hell, we need better play with the entire D. I think Muschamp will help with that. Our OL needs to play much better. Our ST needs some work also. We lacked in a lot of areas this year. I really don't think talent is our issue. We need an attitude change with the entire team. Last year we hung around and won games at the end of the game. This year we lost those games. We need to learn to put teams away.

tl;dr

Bama will win west; UGA will win east. Prediction made based on recruiting and coaching.

Bama will be a shite show on offense. They are replacing QB, 3 starting OL, Jalston Fowler who is their Jay Prosch, Amari Cooper, Deandrew White and potentially Yeldon.

Unless Coker really is some freak QB they were all hoping for, they better hope their D scores 7 points

Nope but according to most uga fans they have chubb and he is the GOAT and no one will stop him as they beat every team in 2015 300-0

I hope the team finds some heart in the off season, or it will be another long year. This team only came out fired up for one game, and that was LSU. And we all know how that turned out, and it sux knowing they could do that to anyone if they were giving it their all.

That's what has bothered me the most about this year....it's not like we are terrible or anything, just showed a lack of heart outside of nick cap and duke
