@marshallcotiger

Any update on the "big surprise" we were supposed to get? Or just news in general? Don't care how boring

Some notes from JGT Article on Purifoy

quote:

-Purifoy reported last season at 197 pounds. He now weighs between 225 and 230.

quote:

The added weight is a critical requirement when it comes to playing power forward for Bruce Pearl.

Regarding the ACT flags I thought the bolded was interesting

quote:

Yet a pair of ACT test scores were flagged for review, one of which was taken at Auburn

Added some more context. I thought it was interesting that a test taking in Auburn under scrutiny still was flagged and had an issue

That is interesting. I'm glad to hear that Purifoy is still in the clear to play.

Damn. He put on 30 lbs? That's considerable.

Does anyone know what the other players thought of Canty last season? Did they think he was stuck up and not as good as he thought, or did they rally around him as their go-to guy?

They knew he was fricking insane, but he worked hard and whatever he was doing. Losing him, Harris, and Bowers will be good for the team as a whole.

Losing Harris isn't good for the team. Bowers is a mix due to his potential. Losing Canty is

Sounds like he put his off year to good use. If true, he may benefit from this "Redshirt" year more than if he played. So often talented players settle into "their game" and don't develop an all around game

Harris was a huge cancer.

I thought Harris played scared too often on offense. Instead of trying to finish strong, he would back down and try to draw the foul.

He was a wing who had never once played in the post prior to last year, his playing style reflected those habits.

According to who? I met/talked with Bruce for about 5 minutes back in January and he offered unsolicited positive feedback on Harris and how he accepted his post role he didn't expect

Harris may not be some great locker room hero, but there hasn't been anything to suggest Harris was unreasonable.

Mustapha Heron fluff type article on Rivals. Here are some interesting quotes

quote:

“When one of your most talented players is also already one of your hardest workers, it’s a good sign. He stays in the gym and he doesn’t say much.”

quote:

As he adjusts to the college game, Heron is working to improve his defense and his 3-point shooting.

“I feel like my role will be to play hard on both ends of the floor and put the ball on the rim,” he said. “I think I have a lot of versatility in my game where I can switch between 1, 2 and 3. If my offense isn't coming the way it should be, I can get my teammates involved.”

I feel like our rumor game has gotten pretty weak. Before we used to attribute it to random third hand sources, now we just throw out rumors no source

My info comes from someone who had to deal with him in the arena a lot. Don't feel like the guy would lie to me but he has said on multiple occasions that he was more glad that Harris left than Canty. Frankly don't give a shite one way or another, I want the team to be good and I have been told that Harris leaving is good for the team.

Well before it was hard to tell if you were 24ing it and trying to summarize KN's summarized info

quote:

I want the team to be good and I have been told that Harris leaving is good for the team.

I should say that I think Harris' situation caused any negative attitude. Don't think that in a vacuum he is a cancer. I'd expect someone in his spot would be pissed and negative

Harris was a proven quality starter at wing for tourney team Providence. At Auburn, he gets thrust into a position he has never played (PF/Post) and overshadowed by nutcase diva Canty and a bad diva Bowers. Oh, and we are a clear loser who plays walkons for significant minutes.

Today, boys and girls, we learn how to become an insider. Follow along as I break down a sample insider information post.

WARNING: The following is just a sample and not directed to anyone that may have just posted something similar or identical.

Step #1: Make a statement nobody has said before. This provides you some exclusivity and notoriety. (Alternatively, if something big breaks, just say you already knew about it but couldn't say anything yet)

quote:

My info comes from someone

Step #2: Never, ever name them. If someone presses you for a name, just make sure to let them know that they'd get in trouble if you mentioned they said it.

quote:

who had to deal with him in the arena a lot.

Step #3: Establish unnamed source's credibility to the rumor but be as vague as possible on their actual role.

quote:

Don't feel like the guy would lie to me

Step #4: Gotta nail down that you and the source are tight. However, you've gotta leave yourself some wiggle room to get out of this thing if real information comes to surface that you've made it up.

quote:

but he has said on multiple occasions that he was more glad that Harris left than Canty.

Step #5 (optional): Reinforce the rumor. Not always necessary, but you might as well since it's all make believe anyhow.
