Very insightful discussion...

Years without a running QB:

2009-Chris Todd (3 star with a grade of 83)
2011-Barrett Trotter (3 star with a grade of 84)
2015-Jeremy Johnson (4 star with a grade of 92) Sean White (4 star with a grade of 93)

So we've had one year without a "pro-style QB" that was actually supposed to be worth a shite and we actually moved the ball very well with White in between the 20s.

Thats some New Lanier shite right there.

are you sure? I could have sworn it was inciteful. looking at stats only is misleading, especially with Todd. feel free to keep dreaming though. reality is we are fricked unless Franklin makes huge strides over the summer or Woody is that damn good.

Nah, I just believe if Gus has the right mobile qb in his system it's almost unstoppable. I don't hate White but his style doesn't fit the system.

No i meant insightful like I said LINK

Looking at stats? Who's looking at stats? I looked at talent evaluations. Who did you have expectations for out of that list?

And how am I dreaming? All I've said was we haven't seen if Gus can have Gus-type offensive numbers with a quality Pocket QB which is what you scoffed at.

When did he call himself awesome? He literally said two words and you are whining about it.

He's confident and I love it. Sec quarterbacks have to be immensely confident or you will end up like JJ

I felt pretty screwed with every QB on that list and based on their contributions alone I felt pretty vindicated afterwards. If you look at our passing offense, in its totality, and envision any type of success youre some kind of delusional. fact is we dont run the offense we did in 2009 or 2010 so any comparisons arent valid anyway. what this offense has devolved into does not work in any other form or fashion besides run first/read option based. now if you want to speculate on why that is then by all means but to say otherwise requires your head so far up your arse its in another zip code. bottom line is one of two things HAS to happen. either Gus figures it out and gets back to what got him here or we luck into another golden egg with either Franklin or Woody. anything else results in failure. you can write that shite on the rock. we know what we have in the others and in combination with our coaches/play calling we dont have jack shite in any of them. dont get me wrong, I like SW and think even JJ could be pretty decent on other teams. I actually think SW would be a dynamic, standout player playing for about half the SEC. I hate Mullen to the core but I'd love to see what he could do with SW.

I replied to Awesome Dave. Since no one made him choose that SN, it's safe to say he chose to call himself awesome.

We can take this to Sonic if we need to.

Here's the thing with Sean White being Auburn's starting quarterback. Outside of struggling in the redzone, which could change in 2016, Auburn has weaknesses at tackle and wide receiver. Passing quarterbacks that happen to be small, have limited arm strength and limited athleticism don't typically do well when there's no blocking up front and no threats on the outside.

Kid is a gamer. I think he could do outstanding in the right system with the right pieces. Auburn's 2016 offense doesn't have those pieces.

^^^ agreed in all of that. Auburn 2016 is simply not built to set White up for success, for better or worse.

My point exactly.

quote:

fact is we dont run the offense we did in 2009 or 2010 so any comparisons arent valid anyway.

We didn't run the offense we ran in 2009 in 2010. We didn't run the offense we ran in 2010 in 2011. We didn't run the offense we ran in 2010 in 2013.

That's the fricking point. I have made zero comparisons to those offenses.

quote:

what this offense has devolved into does not work in any other form or fashion besides run first/read option based.

Well a valid response to my point would be you don't think Gus can adjust. All I'm saying if you would listen is we've had less than a full football season with a competent pocket QB and yall have already written off throwing the ball under Gus. I haven't even said Gus can develop a passing offense. I just said we haven't seen whether he can or not.

quote:

either Gus figures it out and gets back to what got him here or we luck into another golden egg with either Franklin or Woody

Gus can only get back to what got him here if Franklin or Woody are golden eggs. Putting a shitty mobile QB out there isn't going to magically fix the offense.

I'm all in favor of him moving back to mobile QBs but we can't do it this year. Not a fan of Franklin or starting a true freshman who's been described as very raw.

Auburn had weaknesses at WR last year too and White moved the ball. We lost Louis and added supposed stud Freshmen. If the freshmen can catch then we're already in better shape than we were last year.

I'm pretty meh about calling our tackle spot a weakness. I see what you're saying but if we move Golson outside and have James at RT I think we'll be fine.
