If this is a real quote, it just reinforces my point...Gus Malzahn refuses to change his offense for the skill set of his players. Assuming he wins the starting job, he will get Sean White killed if he tries to run him like Cam Newton, Nick Marshall, or even like the offense ran in 2015.

Which is amazing considering that when he first started in college (at Arky and Tulsa), he was NOT known for running QBs, but for passing QBs.

Thus my comment above.

Because they will be running for their lives behind our OL.

Heard from somebody who was at the latest scrimmage. He said our O is a steaming pile right now.

Wasn't said scrimmage focused solely on short yardage plays/situations? If I watched any team do that, I'd say their offense looks like shite if I didn't know that's what they were doing.

Ah yes...nothing has quite killed our rhythm on offense more than a poorly timed wildcat snap for 1 yd.

That happens in most pre-season scrimmages. That is no reason for an O to look inept just a few weeks before the season starts.

Right, but what if they actually did fine with what they were trying to do? If said observer was expecting a full scrimmage with open offense, and all they did was complete short passes and run dive plays for short yardage, wouldn't they mistakenly describe that as inept?

This guy would know what he is seeing. If he said our O was a steaming pile, that means it was a steaming pile.........no matter what situations were trying to be accomplished. Short yardage O, if that is what you are assuming was being worked on strictly, is kind of important.
