quote:

"For Coach Sunny Golloway to be fired by Auburn is outrageous. The allegations against him are pretextual. Coach Golloway has made no mistakes. If some, who want him gone, say mistakes were made, they are the mistakes of others, who have conspired to make him the victim. If it is necessary in the coming days to air these matters, folks from Jay Jacobs on down -- but not Sunny Golloway -- will be the ones wishing Auburn had handled this differently. As for President (Jay) Gogue, he does not know the facts. If he did, he would not have acquiesced in this decision. "This is a program that hired a disgraced Bruce Pearl, yet now seeks to make a good man and a good coach, who is nothing but a winner, the fall guy. "Sunny Golloway is not only a winner, he is a fighter. He has four years left on his contract. There are good arguments, which we are prepared to test in court, that he actually has a lifetime contract. If serious offers of severance are not soon forthcoming, we will be fighting this matter in some forum, quite visibly, as long as it takes to redeem Coach Golloway's good name and to provide just compensation for him and his family."

Damn, shots fired at Bruce Pearl..

Regardless, this lawyer seems like he's just slinging shite against a wall and hoping it sticks. I'm sure the last thing he wants is actual litigation.

He wants HUSH money. We will IMHO pay part of a buyout to make this go away. We will not pay the 1.25 million..

JJ strikes again...

Bruce Pearl is a nice guy, SG is an a-hole.

There's your difference.

To say he made no mistakes is laughable. SG's mistakes are well documented. To then say any mistakes made were the mistakes of others is just a weak attempt to deflect.

As far as I can tell, the "buyout" is just what remains of his original contract.

Right?

So what you're saying is that you expect JJ to sign head coaches to year-to-year contracts to prevent any potential future buyouts?

Yeah, that's gonna get us some quality coaching!

I think this was a very high buyout (1.25 Million) that was double what it should have been because JJ did not do his due diligence. We over paid. Auburn has traditional had very high buyout agreements.

He was making $380,000 at Oklahoma, we upped it to $650,000.

How much do you think Auburn is going to have to pay to bring a reputable coach to the historically worst baseball program in the SEC?

Your suggestion is that we go bargain hunting?

Oklahoma was pretty happy for him to leave

We gave him $650k + $1.25mil buyout? We doubled his salary and made a GIANT buyout.

We basically did what the Yankees did with ARod and competed against ourselves

As far as I can see, the buyout for Golloway should be $750K, not $1.25 mil.

https://www.oanow.com/sports/college/auburn/baseball/pdf_137ebd2c-6614-11e5-a809-073ed5b0aeac.html

quote:

With more than two (2) years but fewer than three (3) contract years remaining, the sum of $750,000.

Golloway signed his contract on the 14th day of June 2013. That's over two years into the contract, ergo fewer than three years left.

By the way, dude's base salary was only $250K per year. Three (3) coaching seasons left on his contract X $250K = $750K.

So basically, like I said, the "buyout" is merely the contractually committed BASE SALARY per year remaining on the contract. Not anything over and above the contract itself. Nothing EXTRA added.

But please, don't let me stop y'all JJ haters from making up some more stupid shite.
