I hate it for him as well. There isn't an AD out there that doesn't miss on hires. I'm not going to go into what he was and wasn't responsible for but I just know he wasn't as bad as some people made him out to be. We need to be careful what we wish for because of the three big sports there is only football to hire for and we can easily miss with that one and everyone is going to want that AD gone because of it.

Who could have guessed we would receive this news before the QB announcement?

I think this might be the announcement. TJ Finley

You can't be serious?

He got facility upgrades going that have been talked about for a decade.

He hired a great T&F coach

He brought in a highly respected S&D coach

He refused to fire Bruce when the then Pres. wanted him gone.

Other than that, probably not much.

I'll never understand the need to pull the plug on a guy after one season. Given how we've treated the guy, I actually feel sorry for him and would fully understand it if he just quit and nuked us. WTF would come to work here after that?

Clearly a pre-emptive move to regain power at Auburn. The boosters are striking back after he went rogue and hired Harsin.

I like Harsin. I think he is legit. He will prove that here or somewhere else if we are too stupid to give him time.

John Hartwell, AD at Utah State, would be fantastic. Big 8 accounting experience, former college basketball player, AD experience, testified before Congress 18 months ago on the NIL issue and loves Auburn. Checks all the boxes.

A suggestion I found

Haven’t we been talking about when, not if he was going to be fired? Timing is a little odd, but it isn’t surprising at all.

Any competent AD could’ve accomplished all of that.

Let’s be real, Auburn was never going to fire Bruce Pearl — He’s the best thing going in Auburn right now and has been since he arrived.

I’m indifferent on him leaving/staying, FWIW. I’ve never outright wanted him gone.

well, of course. That doesn't fit the narrative that AG just sat on his hands at Auburn.

yet the school Pres. wanted him gone.

Unfortunately the budget cuts that had us driving teams that should be flying, which made us look poor and Harsin tanking at the end of the season were his downfall.
I think he sealed his fate when he went rogue and hired Harsin. Harsin's year 1 performance didn't help.

But I also think that the incoming president (for any school) has no obligation to anyone and should be able to bring his guy in at such an important/visible position. But Greene had no support so there was ZERO incentive for President Roberts to retain him.
