He's a decent QB, but he's not the guy that's going to get us where we want to be. Not a knock on him. His abilities are limited.

How so?

I agree, the coaches wasted perfect opportunities to coach it up and allow him to approve in the second half today. Along with the second half against Arky St and LaMo.

He's a passing qb that can make every throw, to say he's limited you would have to say it about anyone that's not great at running and throwing every qb is limited in some way

Sean is very inconsistent on pass plays > 20 yards.
Gus traditionally runs a passing offense that is built on 20+ yard playaction passes.

This doesn't make Sean a bad QB, it just means we have to adjust the offense. The Patriots have done it for Tom Brady, whose downfield passing is a shell of what it used to be.

What happened on the overthrow on the other bomb.

On the one in the 1st half, Stevens was fricking jogging until he noticed the ball was in the air. Then he kicked in the jets. Hard to read a receivers mind about whether or not he is serious about running the pattern or not.

On the 3rd and 3 in the 2nd half, that one was Davis's fault, he had no idea where the ball was or where it was supposed to be.

I will go back to my original, and always, statement about him.

He is a great kid, a very good passer and would be a great QB in someone elses system.

But he is not the QB we need. He is a 7-8 game winner for us and that will be close to our ceiling. We will not win any championships with him or his stye of QB with Gus as a head coach

To be a championship team with Gus, we need a running Qb

Love what Sean is doing. He has some issues to clean up, but he is a 8 game winner with our schedule, maybe 9 at the absolute best.

Then we need to get rid of Gus.

Because when/if word gets out on that and is proven true, we're going to be Paul Johnson/Georgia Tech when it comes to recruiting QBs.

Because you know who the really GOOD "running" quarterbacks that want to learn how to fricking throw the ball will go to? Somebody who will teach them how to fricking throw the ball and will let them fricking throw it.

So you want to sentence us to a Gus's lifetime of JF3s. Because I'm here to tell you now, Cam Newton's and Nick Marshall's don't grow on the QB tree behind the athletic offices.

Seems to be a great Qb in our system but for some reason, the non believers refuse to acknowledge it. Haters gonna hate. Tatters gonna tate

I just glad somebody had the foresight to plant the QB tree behind the athletic offices instead of Toomer's Corner.

We can win with Sean at QB. If we gameplan right going forward, he can be a net positive. In what world do you live in that Sean White is a "great QB" for our system

-176 yds/game
-0.25 TDs/game
-Negative total rush yards
-1 Total TD/ 2 Total INT
-AVG Passer Rating 132.225

Considering we changed our system this week and got better results with Sean, seems like we were right

Everyone seems to have believed that White would be good in a different system, if Gus/Rhett pull it off no one will be complaining about having SW

I dont totally disagree with you on this. But there are QBs out there that would fit our system. We just need to get one and we will at some point again and be a elite team and contend for a championship again.

My take on Sean is not to be a dick. Id love for us to be able to compete with a guy like him. But if you just watch what has happened and use your head and not your heart, you will see it as well.

It doesnt really matter. He is our QB right now. The obvious choice and we will get our 7 or 8 wins and possibly 9 if we upset someone and move on to next season watching someone else play in Atlanta. We will be right here, discussing it the exact same way in March when we start spring practice.

I look at this years season so far.

The offense won 3 games (two cupcakes and MSU)
The defense won 1 (LSU)
The coaches lost 1 (Clemson)
Both sides lost 1 (TAM)

Its a conversation that will not get settled because people want what I , and others, are saying to be so wrong, they will say anything to try and disprove it. When the proof is in the results. And that is all that matters.

He's a very solid QB. Very accurate on short and intermediate throws. Good awareness, great accuracy on timing routes. Struggles on deep balls, and average arm strength. He's good enough to win an SEC title, but can't do it by himself.

You're right we don't totally disagree.

I just don't understand why the coach adapting is a thought so unfathomable and out of the question.

Bear Bryant adapted and stole other systems back in the day.

Pat Dye went from the Wishbone (under Crowe) to the I-formation (under Sullivan) to the Shotgun (under Tommy Bowden).

Nick fricking Saban is adapting year to year on offense.

I appreciate coaches watching trends, adapting, and stealing ideas and sometimes even systems.

I don't appreciate "my way or the highway" systems.

I always thought because of his history, Gus was the former. He's proving to be the latter. And if he wants to cement in stone that he's the latter, I'd rather he be let go sooner rather than later.

Some coaches just aren't able to make those changes. After 13 P5 games, we have broken 30pts in regulation only twice in the pocket passer era.

Jury is still out, we finally seemed to put it together for once today

Mack Brown is a good example.

If Gus is stuck in a permanent rut, like I said I'd rather just cut bait on him sooner rather than later. Because I don't want to become the school with the runner QBs who throw the football like shotputs. You just don't win in the NCAA like that these days in a power conference. You HAVE to be able to throw the damn ball.

If all we're going to do is run the ball, then lets settle for our program being at a Georgia Tech level and give up any future dreams of competing with the big boys.

I would as well but all those coaches you mentioned are better by light years than Gus.

The running QB allows Gus to be a little tricky which is something in his nature. It really aids the red zone play if the QB has the ability to improvise and take off with the ball. The defense is just at a disadvantage and that is what he needs. It also helps with his pace if he can keep running the ball with two or three different runners.

Its not a matter of winning some games, its a matter of being 2013 and 2010 elite. Which is something we should all want.

Ive never watched any football team with more confidence in its offense than our 2013 team. shite was beautiful to watch. And we basically ran 3 plays.

Indeed it was.

Again, true. Which is the rut that Gus finds himself in creatively. And no QB worth his salt that dreams of playing at the next level will want to come to Auburn to run 3 plays.

Both playing in the NFL.
