A big part of it – though not the only part – is that Craig felt he wasn't given the freedom in coaching his position that he felt he should have had.
But I thought the narrative was Gus was hands-off

No he is not a very good WR coach..

Why is that difficult for you to understand?

I don't want him to leave at all, but he does have weaknesses and it has nothing to do with sour grapes. I don't think anyone is angry with DC should he choose to join LSU.

Eta: not very good may be too strong. He is average to decent imo.

He should've been coaching QB's. I said that from day one.

Is Fountain, Garner, and Lashlee the only assistant coaches left from last year? And, at the time, all some wanted was for Garner and Lashlee to leave. How funny some things can work out...

So we lost our best two recruiters (TRob/DCraig)

We lost our best coach/developer JB Grimes.

Yet we are keeping Rhett Lashlee and Garner?

Yeah. The 3 problems are still around. Seems like Gus is getting advice on who to hire/keep and fire from someone that wants Auburn to lose. Kind of matches his play to lose mentality.

So is there anything official that DC is gone or still just speculation?

I am with you.

We lose Muschamp and most of our D staff.

We might lose Craig.

And we keep Lashlee?

Malzahn's seat should be scorching if this happens.

Malzahn will lose A LOT of his support if Craig is leaves. IMO you fire Lashlee to keep Craig. Craig is a motherfricking asset for AU football. Rhett is worth nothing to AU football. He has no upside. You tell him to hit the road. This will piss me off if we lose Craig. I'm about to call the Harbert family in Birmingham and tell them to pull all of their money if Craig leaves.

is this based on your extensive knowledge of the position or is it based on the rustle status of your jimmies? Because it seems to me, everyone was perfectly fine with him being the WR coach here at Auburn, until he left for LSU. Then, he sucks, he's not very good, he's just a recruiter, blah blah. Same JABA arse shite we always see when us fans get bitter about a situation

Face it, he was good, damn good. Good enough that LSU wants to hire him to teach their amazing group of WRs. Meanwhile, we are going to be stuck with cheerleader Kodi Burns, who knows absolutely dick about the position, other than his senior years as a role player.

I currently have one foot on and one foot off of the Gus Bus. Next season will make or break him IMO.

I don't want him to leave and was willing to live with our WR production for his recruiting and possibly progressing to OC and QB coach. Where I think he may be good at.

The only one getting their jimmies rustled in here is you over people's opinions of his WR coaching, but then you melt easier than most.

I agree with your point about sour grapes. The problem is though you argue how good DC is at coaching WRs and then you you totally dismiss Burns.

What was DC's experience before AU? He was a QB at Auburn. WR coach at South Alabama for a year. Then QB coach.Meanwhile Burns was a QB at Auburn. WR at Auburn for a year. Now a RB coach at ASU (granted he just took the job).

So you could argue he knows just as much as DC did about coaching WRs coming into the job.

We're hearing from some good sources that Craig has decided to leave. We're still not quite ready to report it. The threshold there is higher.
