Nick Marshall hate thread

-Beaver
quote:

DK why some of you think Marshall is any better than Chris Todd but you need your goddamn eyes checked

Gnar Cat
quote:

i think he is pretty awful too. terrible accuracy

Auzach
quote:

Worse than Todd... Better strength

Tiger n Miami
quote:

Marshall is a joke.

AUtigerNola
quote:

Yea I'm off the Marshall train

AUCE
quote:

Agree. If you can't throw, and you fumble the read option, you're no good to us. Put the frosh in and give him some experience in Death Valley. We've already lost the game. Marshall is turriable.

hate thread 2

15Sammy
quote:

The people that normally know things like this say that he's a DB that we're giving a shot at QB just to appease him before sticking him back at corner where he belongs. Personally, I'll be a little surprised if Wallace isn't the starter this fall.

parkjas
quote:

Why are we comparing a qbto a db?

'13 crootin thread: hate edition

AUtigerNOLA
quote:

I hope this kid plays safety.

Sandman
quote:

I liked him better when I thought he was a good quarterback.

Hopefully we're 'crooin' him for safety, since he's good at the whole "interception" thing.

Kage
quote:

I guess with Marshall, they'd like to have at least another QB on the team, just in case. If he's not needed and doesn't pan out at QB, they can try him at another position, most likely DB, and go for another QB next year.

TheJones
quote:

Marshall isn't going to play safety. Lashlee thinks he's a perfect fit in Gus' system.

TTsTowel
quote:

I'm skeptical of his quarterbacking abilities right now. I'd love him at safety. It's a definite position of need
.

Weagle
quote:

Watched like the first three minutes of his highlight film and I think he threw one maybe two passes. On top of that he's thrown more picks than TDs. I don't mind taking him for depth purposes but I would be really concerned if he started.

TheJones
quote:

You guys are taking the stats out of context of the games he played. His team had an absolutely horrific defense. Their defense gave up almost 90 points to another community college. He had to throw in a lot of bad situations.

My ninja Thirdlawson
quote:

This guy has STAR potential all over him, and I'm not talking about the new hybrid position on D either....

quote:

Safety?!?! For WHAT?!?!?!?! Look at the 2 stiffs we have at QB right now...Frazier has talent and no heart, Wallace has heart and no talent. Neither is a good runner.

Nick Marshall has both...he has turnovers, but that's very coachable. You have to be born with talent AND heart, and those other 2 WERE NOT.

This is what you guys will say about JF3 to begin with. Then our running game will ignite and the crow threads will be delicious

My point really is that the Auburn board kinda sucks at identifying QB talent. Except Lawson and I. Because we're not white honkies

frick me! At least it wasn't a bad as the others I was just off the train for a bit.

I'll admit I'll melt with the best of them.

ETA: Heres my follow up quote in the thread a-hole and this was the LSU game where we got destroyed:

It's hard not to overreact during games. I mean it's been seriously terrible since 2010. We haven't come close to beating our rivals since. I hope we become a better team by the end of the year but the D and O still need a lot of work. Glad they fought tonight though

Wrong. I have admitted, over and over, I was wrong on NM. He actually made me change my position on mobile vs static QBs.

Not sure if serious. Anymore velocity on his passes and they'll leave the damn stadium. If there isn't a DT qb behind center next year it will be ugly.

True! I think a lot of the drops were due to the velocity of his passes. It was much higher than JJ, and seemed to cause issues. Probably because they had been primarily catching JJ balls in practice for so long.

I'm not trying to shite on anyone. I just think that we're quick to dismiss talent based on what we see on paper and film.

Reality is that we're not coaches and we cant anticipate would these guys are going to do until they get into the system.

I would rather have a mobile QB. They can utilize their running abilities while developing a passing game, much like Cam and Nick.

I liked Nick Marshall from day 1 and defended him while everyone trashed him. That doesn't make you some QB guru.

I say Sean White starts and I don't really see how anyone disagrees with that but a majority do.

I'm not a QB guru. That part was clearly a joke

quote:

Because there is a lot of time before Fall games start. And we often confuse best QB with best fit. White may be the frontrunner but he has a lot of time to lose the job. I think White may be the better QB but JF3 may be the better fit.

In '13, Marshall was clearly not the best QB in the country but it is tough to make a case against him being the best QB for our offense

I will gladly post that as long he isn't the starter due to injuries.

Gus has consistently shown he'll change the offense to his QB. People seemed to have forgotten that after one year.

I thought my one post with hot cheerleaders was a good post in that first NM hate thread.

Well done Jonesy.

Sean White was a RS Frosh (soph?) last year.Outside of Johnny Football or very few others, no RS Freshman has lit the SEC on fire. Sean did fairly well, comparatively speaking.

JJ got the force used on him, Jedi mind tricked and all. 2016 is his last year. I expect him to prepare himself and be ready to go.

Then there is JF3 - a hybrid between the two above.

There are three viable options at QB. It on Gus to coach and plan and prepare those options.

This might be a pipe dream, but QB could end up a strength. There is ability, experience, variety and options. It is on Gus and CLR to make the most of that potential and use it appropriately to win games. 2016 is a pivotal year for CGM.

A decent to good AU offense and a decent to good AU defense might end up doing very, very well, given a few breaks.

What you got, Gus?

JF3 is in no way a hybrid between White and Johnson

Ok then, to split hairs, JF3 (possibly) brings talents and potential to the team that neither SW or JJ do. His (possible) strengths and weaknesses may (likely) differ from SW's or JJ's strengths and weaknesses. The fact is, much like Cam and much like Nick, we really have no clue how he might perform.

My point was that CGM should have three, minimum, viable options at QB. Many of us are up in arms about SW, JJ and JF3. But reconsidering, QB might (should?) be a strength this year. It is up to Gus, and this year should clarify many, many things.
