Guys let's get real. If Alahunter comes in and flames up the joint (which isn't going to happen), his access will be taken away.

Every board admin got access to every board. It isn't going to do any harm.

I don't know why the majority of this board joined the rant in the first place, but for me it was to get away from the group think you find in the vast majority of Auburn centric websites. Most of those sites will not tolerate any hint of dissent or negative thoughts about the University or it's athletic programs. I enjoyed the rant and SECr because it was a mix of fans and if you tried to run a line of horseshite about your team, you would be called out on it.

Then came ATPB......absolutely ruining a good thing. The notoriety this site received drew every half assed troll and flamer in the SEC here. Honestly the rant sucked to be on, and I stopped posting for a pretty long time. When the team sites were made, I was ecstatic, finally a sanctuary from the dimwits. But as time wore on, I found I missed mixing it up with other fans, the ones who are fun to shite talk with and don't turn it into a silly flame fest.

That's why I was intrigued by the idea of allowing some rival fans on our team site. What did we have to lose? Ross could ban hammer anyone that got out of line, and it would allow good posters from all teams to swap info/ideas.

The board has spoken, is very strongly against it, and I have no problem going along with the decision. I hope that we can revisit this idea in the future because I believe it would make this an even better place.

I am sorry but there is no forum where Bama/Auburn or Auburn/UGA posters use in conjunction that is civil. Just look at the SEC Recruiting board, the SECr or any other site like AL.com. It just wont work.

If you want to mix it up with them, go to the rant or other pages that allow it. But the team pages were created because those pages were so horrible.

If you think for one second that adding rivals to a team page will make it "better", you have not been paying attention very well.

IF you are going to let a "Select" few in, just open the damn doors. It would be the same thing.

What constitutes flaming? Who decides? Hell, we don't even get along as auburn fans most of the time.

And as for your earlier statement about 'Aufamily' types of posters, I left that site long ago for the same reasons. The posters here are not even close to that cult.

I agree with Lanier on this.

My point was that you can't go to the rant anymore and have a reasonable, intelligent conversation. There has always been flaming on the rant, but that's all it is at this point.

We will have to disagree on whether rival fans add anything to the discussion, but I honestly think the good ones do.

Alahunter is a huge Bama homer, thus is a bigflamer towards AU. But if Ross can ban him if he trolls our board, then it's no big deal.

In the past, yes. Recently, not so much. He doesn't start many threads on the SECr anymore. His threads on the OTB are pretty entertaining/informative.

I wasn't comparing this board to aufamily, the only similarity between the two is the color scheme.

He knows how a lot of you guys feel. Before Chicken even opened up the AU board to the other SEC admin, he said he wouldn't post here for that very reason. There is no way he would abuse his ability to post here. In spite of the flame-fests, fights and arguments he's been in with AU posters in the past, he is a good guy who has enough self-awareness to know how he is perceived by some AU fans and won't do anything to disturb the peace.

I and any other AU board admins we add on in the future do, and if you think posts are questionable that's why we have an RA feature.

The people that were allowed access are SEC Rant Board Admins. All of them were given access to each other's team boards. These people care more about enforcing rules than breaking them, and all of them have been on this site for a very long time and have good track records.

And if you think they've stepped out of line, their access can always be taken away.

He may be the worst Bama poster towards Auburn other than a few of the alters.

He seems like a good guy but he "won't" intelligently discuss topics that are about Auburn. His history shows that.

I don't have a clue who you are tuck, but I really don't think you should have any say or try and convince us that its okay for another Bama poster to be allowed to post. That's like a Democrat voting in the republican primary.

Not a huge fan of this but as long as they don't post I think it is all good.

I don't understand why this has become an obsession for some to get non au posters on here.
The reason the SEC Rant and SEC Recruiting boards have turn into crap is because of the all the different people. This is the only AU board I post on now because it is the only one that encourages intelligent non homer discussion.

There is a good balance of "Were doomed", "sunshine pumpers" and level headed posters on here. Its the only Auburn board I post on anymore because of that.

I was using a UGA board for a while but it went full tard a few years back with BAMA posters. They pretty much ruined the board.

I would love for there to be a place where fans of different teams could converse and engage in intelligent conversation about college football... Which for a short time, was happening at times on the rant. I don't even try to have a real conversation over there.

Ya I just don't think it is possible as every place there seems to be different teams mingling it eventually falls to pieces. I lurked on the rant for prob 2 years before posting (ironically it was a thread where Alahunter was saying McElroy was a better college QB than Peyton Manning ) and it used to be a pretty awesome place to get different perspectives. But then 2010 happened and it fell apart. I think the same would happen here if we started allowing other posters in

I completely agree. FWIW, I don't have any say-so in what happens here and I've said what I'm going to about how I personally feel about opening the boards up. I will not argue with you or anyone else about it. It's up to you guys, Ross and Mr. Chicken where you go from here. It's your board and it seems to me Mr. Chicken is giving each individual fan base the right to make it the way the majority want it.

I've been around for a while and I get along with most everyone here. The last few years I've hardly even posted, but I'm always around--reading mostly. Today I'm merely stopping by to say hello and try to foster some good-will. You won't see any more posts on your board from me about opening it up. I was not trying to start an argument about which direction you guys should take your board. I was merely offering a viewpoint from a long-time non-Auburn poster on the issue. That is all. You won't see anything more from me on the issue.
