I don't believe this kind of shite. No way people are threatening to kill the QB over poor play. Maybe some dumbass al.com comments, but nothing serious. I certainly don't believe people were coming up to him and threatening him.

Yep. Like I said, I dont believe it.

I believe the fact that he was willing to sit for 2 years is a sign of his mental makeup. In the past QB's expected to sit, but in todays game they all want to play. JJ was ok with being a back up despite the whole world suggesting he could start for half the programs in the country. Mentally, he may have tipped his hand to how he is made.

He clearly got rattled early this year and went into a shell. He isn't the first QB and few every really recover fully. Contrast that to NM and the way he was lights out in the face of stress and anxiety...that is the biggest difference in a QB with talent and a QB who is successful. The brain.

Naming JJ the starter too early was the first mistake by Gus. He didn't earn it in the fall and it showed with simply his lack of pace, or to a greater extent his motivation and competitiveness. Second was the way Gus seemed totally befuddled by his own depth chart and he has become a horrible play caller since the first game. He isn't unpredictable anymore, and when he's not predictable, he is clueless. As much as some won't admit it, but Bentley not doing all the grunt game planning made a huge difference as well.

It's a combination of a lot of things. I can't pinpoint it to a single problem. I think we/JJ failed in a lot of areas in developing him. Our defense doesn't do much to give the offense a good look is one thing. JJs mechanics are AWFUL. He's 2 steps too slow in this league. A lot of this requires coaching to develop. The tools are still there. I'm not at practice so I can't give you a good answer.

I'm sorry but you're going to have to reference a claim like that.

Reference? His dad is the source

And yes, fan bases get stupid and threaten players over poor play. We are no better than bamas fans when it comes to that.

Mentality. We saw a wide-eyed QB at LSU. It's a miracle he regained his composure and helped us win at A&M.

Have to agree with this.

L) he bought in to his own hype and it destroyed his mind and decision making skills on the field. He had nothing to lose last year, this year's pressure infected him with autism.

He is not very good. Arky is terrible in D, and was even worse last year.

Why didnt Gus start teaching Kerryon Johnson to throw the ball? That kid has Nick Marshall wheels. If only he could throw.

I personally believe if Jeremy was allowed to see a competent QB coach he would have developed. It boggles my mind that Gus is arrogant enough to ban them.

What a waste.

If he could do this, then JJ wouldn't be the train wreck he is. Apparently teaching qb's basic fundamentals is overrated. Why waste time teaching a guy footwork and passing mechanics when you can use that time to practice the bubble screen?

Gus and Lashlee have shown no ability to develop quarterbacks. If they can't get a Juco quarterback that has been developed by someone us God help us.

I see no problem in S White's development as a QB so far. He looks very good in his mechanics, and the reading of the defense. He just doesn't have enough OTF experience.
I get tired of hearing how our coaches don't develop QBs. Did you see Cam in the Spring game? terrible. He looked much better as he played when fall rolled around and the coaches allowed him to pass more and open up the passing game.

funny enough folks seem to be forgetting JJ was a chizik recruit chizik and lefty recruited him to be a pro style pocket passer. around this time in 2012 jj said himself if we fired chizik then he would de-commit he didn't firmly commit to us till Gus was hired. jj commited when lefty was oc

"heres the quote Auburn oc Scott Loeffler evaluated close to two dozen quarterbacks in person over the past four weeks. he scouted Johnson twice this spring including carvers spring game last
Friday"

"After he saw me throw an under-the-center post route, he just shook his head," Johnson said. "After he saw me throw those two times, he's been telling everybody, 'No.' He's been telling Coach Chizik I'm the guy. He said I'm the chosen one"

Sean White has been praised on these traits long before he ever stepped foot on campus here. He'd been training with a personal QB coach since the 8th grade; a guy who played QB collegiately and who got a few NFL tryouts after success in Europe/Arena football.

As mentioned, Jeremy Johnson's mechanics are awful.

B and D. It's clear that Johnson was capable of being a starting quarterback in the SEC during the games he played in 2013 and 2014 but he was never able to really progress beyond that. And the play calling this season has indicated that Gus isn't really sure what to do with this offense.
