doesn't really matter. Truth is all 3 QB's will play. White, JF3 for wildcat and JJ for goal line.

Sean White by Friday morning. The notion of a two or three QB system makes me want to throw up flies.

Probably but it will matter as far as getting reps with the first team. I think SW gets announced tonight or tomorrow. No practice yesterday, so good time for review and evaluation. It's time to pick a guy a start the game plan implementation.

The waiting that Gus is doing only tells one story. He wants JF3 to be the QB, but he isn't there yet, so he's trying to give him time to get there.

JF3, this saturday evening

Posted this in the practice thread but per PM JF3 had his best practice Monday. He was the most consistent of all 3 qbs and has improved a lot since Spring

You mean all 4 qbs. It's looking more and more like Woody will get snaps this season.

4 qb system

Its between JF3 and Sean. No clue which one or when. Neither being named would surprise me

I realize it's Barrett Sallee and Bleacher Report, but he makes some good points about JFIII and why folks shouldn't judge him based on Last Chance U

Question from Twitter to Sallee

quote:

do you honestly still feel this way after all 6 Last Chance U episodes? Could happen but I'm no betting on it.

Sallee's response

quote:

Yes, I feel like Franklin could take the SEC by storm, and I am not going to alter my perception of who he is as a player or a person based on a heavily-edited documentary that was shot nine months ago.

quote:

it portrays Franklin as a backup who, after a few early shots, doesn't get much action until the final game of the season. That's not how it went down. He played in every game, attempted 110 passes, had 43 carries and was inserted in specific series and packages throughout the season.

quote:

What's more, Stephens told Bleacher Report Radio on Saturday morning that, from the mid-point of the season on, the work Franklin did with EMCC quarterbacks coach Clint Trickett was a big reason he improved his footwork enough to earn the offer from Auburn.

quote:

If you're going to judge who he is as a passer based on selectively-edited film at a different school that runs a different system than Auburn and discount the fact that he's been at Auburn for eight months working with their coaches, then you need to toss some cool water on that hot take.

If Franklin can prove to the coaching staff over the next week or two that he can do two or three things through the air, that ought to be enough for the staff to pull the trigger and name him as the Tigers' starter.

There's no doubt that he has the wheels to be a danger in the running game, which is something that head coach Gus Malzahn says is a big factor in this year's decision.

quote:

It's not like Auburn's quarterback has to be Peyton Manning for the offense to be successful.

Just think about it. If Gus wanted Sean, he would have named him. Gus isn't taking this long to let a guy (Sean) who he has seen a season worth of evidence on prove to him something he already knows. We know what Sean can do. Gus is giving JF3 time enough to take the job by force.

Sean hasn't snatched the job, and while JF3 hasn't yet snatched it either, he was far behind the other two in terms of playbook knowledge, D1 experience. Gus wants JF to be the guy; you don't bring in a JuCo guy to sit him. He's making him earn it, wants to see him TAKE the job from the other two, and I believe that's what is about to happen.

You can do this when you are Gus and Rhett and your ability to scout qbs is non-existent

not sure how you can be excited for JF3 to be our Qb. He will make our offense one dimensional the instant he takes the field.

I honestly feel bad for Sean and JJ if JF3 is named the starter. I wanna win football games, but damn, why can't Gus make one of his sacred QB recruits worth a shite?

I hear this a lot when Gus brings in a DT. I agree he won't be able to pass against SEC defenses, but I feel like we hear "one dimensional" when it comes to Gus a lot.
I remember a lot of people saying NM would make the offense 1D.

In no way am I comparing the two because we all know who the better QB is, but I just feel like we hear that a lot.

early in the season NM, was terrible at throwing the football, but did have a strong enough arm to stretch the field. JF3 doesnt have the arm strength to do so. Maybe I'm wrong and JF3 will turn out to be a championship caliber Qb....but i have serious doubts that will happen
