The fact Gus is on the hot seat Is dumb. Gus brought us 2010 and 2013, none of our previous coaches sniffed it. Dye had Bo Jackson for 5 yrs and couldn't win crap nationally. Can you imagine Gus with Cam for 5yrs....boy.

It's not even close who has won more nationally against much stiffer competition.

Gus has also been given basically a blank check since 2013 and he has regressed every year it seems like save for the run at the end of last year. That's my issue.

It is a job that pays 7 MM a year to coach 19-22 year olds in a childs game. Damn right I would take it. I would take any SEC job. I would be smiling like a mofo if some tool hired me at Ole Miss.

You think a couple boosters are the reason Malzahn is inept when it comes to running an offense? You think they're the reason he tries to throw it to a kicker on a 4th down? You think they're the reason we barely see any player development when a recruit gets on campus? You think they're the reason we have opposing coaches calling out our plays before we even run them? You think they're the reason we can't recruit on the OL? You think they're the reason we are 1-4 in bowl games? You think they're the reason we are 6-13 against our rivals? You think they're the reason analyst are calling our passing attack basic, one read plays? You think they're the reason Malzahn doesn't even try to shake up the game plane at halftime?

You know how long I could keep this up?

Here is the bugged room version of meeting:

Leath: Gus, how are you?

Greene: Have a seat coach, everything all right?

Leath: Tell me what we are going to do coach?

Gus: We had a good week of practice. Physical. Getting our edge back. This will be fixed. It starts with leadership. No doubt, it will be fixed.

Greene: *leaving the room looks at Leath* Okay, you deal with this robot.

Leath: What about an extension, Gus?

No, Cam Newton brought us 2010 and Gus wasn't the HC and Tubs accomplished just as much as Gus. This season we barely had a starting QB and we sure didn't have anyone we could have sent in to replace him. DT QB's should be lining up to play for Gus but they aren't, why not?

If that cock sucker wasn't such a lazy recruiter, he would probably still be at Auburn. Of course he wants to take up for GusShortBus. They're both mediocre HCs.

sounds like a uat fan. Chokelahoma is not a better job than Auburn. In the past, yes. But not in my lifetime. And SEC >>>>>>>> Big12

3. He lost all 3. One to Central fricking Florida. The Sugar Bowl we backed in to with a 8-4 record and got curb stomped. The other was the national championship game, which feels like an eternity ago, and Gus doesn't appear to be the same coach that coached that year.

PM Article now free content....

AUBURN, Ala. – The future direction of Auburn football could soon become clear. Auburn coach Gus Malzahn and president Steven Leath talked extensively in a Sunday meeting about the program’s past, present and future. Though there is no certain timetable, whether that meeting will result in moving on toward Malzahn’s seventh season or in a change at the top of the program could be known as soon as within the next 24 hours.

As time went on, more issues arose. The offense that got Malzahn to Auburn staggered and sputtered. Malzahn’s micromanaging of the offensive staff to the point of doing almost everything himself became a source of concern. The calls for change from people who matter grew louder.

Cam did it...

A kid that had never played in a D1 game won a title all by himself.

You spew the exact shite Bama fans spew.

I don't why Gus deviated from what got him here, just like I don't know why Chizik ran him off for the power I.

I suspect they both are being told what they should do to keep things in order and neither had the nuts to do it themselves. Maybe their ego tells them to do it differently because others say it's not an NFL offense, oddly the NFL is running more of this style offense than ever before. What goes on behind closed doors is a mystery at AU, but it's obvious it stinks.

Tubs did not accomplish just as much....we were a contender for one year under tubs and it was the only year he basically said -screw the booster, they couldn't fire me, I'm doing it my way. Nobody at AU supported our 2004 run. Our power guys should have gotten the SEC to speak up! They were silent, pouting Tubs was successful

You were making some great points until you brought up 2010 and 2013

2010 Cam Newton. Without him Auburn maybe wins 8 games.

2013 Prayer in Jordan Hare and the kick 6. We could have easily went 8-4 that season. It probably would have been for the best if we did because all 2013 did was give us false hope in Gus.

No one does. I wish Gus would address his thought process on why he abandoned the true dual threat QB.

As far as Chiz, I believe he said he wanted a traditional power running game, but I might be making some of that up.

Or the fact that they said none of the other coaches sniffed it:

Dye: hosed in 1983. Wasn't his fault the pollsters jumped a team 3 spots lower than Auburn

Bowden: undefeated in 1993

Tubs: undefeated and hosed in 2004

Gus chose Tyler Queen over Lamar Jackson. That's all I need to know.

Additionally, who really knows Gus? He is as personable as a dead moth. He doesn't endear himself to fans. He is about as good with the press as Forrest Gump. He never deviates from script when talking with fans, media, and other outlets. One thing is for sure, if he is cut loose, he will not be getting any television gigs.

Announcer: Wow, what a play! What did you see on that Gus?

Gus: No doubt.

Announcer: No doubt about what?

Gus: This team had a good week of practice, you can tell.

Producer: Cut to the Michael Buffer commercial to save us.

You aren't looking at facts or your looking at them and not wanting to face them.

Tubs had a better winning percentage at Auburn than Gus has right now and they both had one year as a contender. Tubs had to fight the boosters and the boosters love/loved Gus.

Tommy was in Mobile about a month ago and I ran into him on Dauphin street as he was walking to dinner. Very gracious, talked for a few minutes. He told me he would work at Auburn for free to fix the mess and then Auburn could bring a young guy in a few years later. Basically said that Gus couldn’t identify talent and his offense doesn’t work. Talked about wanting the AD job but there are people in Auburn that would never let that happen.
