Chris Davis was actually pretty solid all 2013 for us. He wasn't world class but he definitely is a quality starting SEC CB. Other than that we've been pretty darn bad

I imagine actually having a pass rush will make our DBs look better this coming year

That and having some good help at safety.

We will be OK.

That was Ryan Smith.

And allowed Amari Cooper to have career games against Auburn in back-to-back years.

True, awesome tackle on Greg McElroy.

Your sarcasm made me laugh. Yeah, Kick 6 was awesome.

Exactly. While all seemed to contribute in some way, they were never anything special when it came to cornerback.

If Holsey can stay healthy & J. Jones can get healthy then we will be ok. For slots we will need some freshman come in & be ready to contribute.

Frick Tony Bridges for not wanting to play for the best DC in Boom & get the most development he could before the NFL by T-Rob.

We hadn't hired Boom by the time Bridges signed and his connection was with Harbison. Can't blame a kid for going to the hometown school instead of a school that can't confirm a coach and missing the primary contact

ETA: But seriously frick him. Easily could have made our class so much better

1. I was joking

2. Since you brought it up, yes we had. Boom was hired on December 12th, even met w/ TB one time. TB signed on early juco NSD on December 17th.

We won in 2010 with Neiko Thorpe and Desmond Washington at CB.

Hopefully. TRob has been talking up Jeremiah Dinson a whole bunch too

we have talented guys at corner, they've just been coached down. We will definitely need freshmen to help. But Jones is going to be back by the time 2 a days are over. He'll just need to get into football conditioning shape and he'll be fine.

Don't agree with this. We're lucky that so many teams have ?'s at QB this season. Off the top of my head Bama, UGA, and Ole Miss will all be breaking in news ones. Who else?

Besides, when's the last time we actually had quality cornerbacks? Guys like Ryan White, Chris Davis, John Mincy, T'Sharvan Bell and so forth were mediocre at best, IMO.

If we only had another Neiko Thorpe, we'd be set, brah.

It didn't in 2010. Our secondary was no better than it has been at any point post Tuberville. A solid DL, and pass rush, will go a long way in helping alleviate any issues at DB, which is what happened in 2010 on defense. That's yet to be determined obviously, but I think we've got the potential to have have a pretty strong DL this year.

I also think our safeties will be the best they've been since Tubs, this year. Tray Matthews is the best safety we've had in a very long time. I think Ford has a lot of potential and we've got some pretty good depth there, so I feel really good about that position this year.

Agreed, lack of a pass rush hurt us the most last year. QBs had all day to throw and expose our weak corners. You can hide that weakness by rushing the passer. Our DL didn't get a lot of push last season.

We know our O is going to produce points. It will be exciting to see what happens with a defense that can actually slow down or stop an opposing offense. There is only one game we got handled in last season and that was UGA. If our defense was just a little bit better last season we only lose 1-2 games, 3 worst case.

Is the spring game being televised nationally?

I'm in TX and couldn't find it on my Dish guide.

I checked my TV guide (Dish Network) and they will be playing a re-run of it Sunday night, around like 8 or 9 PM. I went ahead and set mine to record. However, it won't be televised live.

It is, but not live.

SEC Network has the rights to all spring games this year, but will not be showing any of them live in their entirety. They may do live look ins, but the are waiting and showing the full game as a delayed package. I think some may be shown Saturday night and others on Sunday.
