Could we sign and place this guy since we have room in our 25 yearly limit?

You realize that unused slots can be used to sign extra early-enrollees the next year, right?

Doubtful. We're expected to use those spots in next years class

Yes but is 29 really that much less than 30?

Sign and place is pretty much a dead practice now. It's pretty useless.

Was just agreeing with you while taking a jab at Hoke/Rivals. I have nothing against the man, he just happens to work at the 2nd best site. At least he isn't Chad Simmons.

Truth.

No point with the new rules.

Pettway is the concern I believe.

If you sign and place into Prep school they can count back. Juco isn't very good especially since JUCO players rarely seem to sign with the placing school anyways

Justin Thornton and Kamryn Pettway have always been concerning.

We basically sign and placed Jason Smith though. He went to MGCCC and redshirted his first year per AU's request. I think you will still see it with recruits that schools think very highly of.

Is he playing QB or WR next year?

That's only if they are in Prep 1 semester. If they are in Prep 1 full year then they are an initial counter on the 25 for 2 classes.

Thornton still has to get his ACT up per his words. Per a P-Ville insider on The Bunker Kam Pettway appears to be in better shape than he was a few months ago.

Per BMatt QB, if you're talking about him at MGCCC.

It makes zero sense to sign a guy that may not make it to school for 2 more years, if you've got someone who can enroll early in that spot and get a head start on school/weight room/practice, etc.

In most cases I agree but when you have a kid like Jason Smith who was MVP for an all star game at a position he had not played at for over a year then I'm ok with it.

One tidbit I forgot to mention. Per BMatt AU is not recruiting Earnest Robinson.

Best Player. Roc and Sean.
Roc - Yet to see anyone tackle him 1-on-1. Will get bigger, stronger, faster, more dangerous.
Sean - Most accurate HS QB he's ever seen. "You'll underestimate him by looking at him, but he's a great athlete." Did not think much of him till UA game, then saw him up close and personal.

My choice: D'haquille just because it is what it is. He's got excellent skills and he's field-ready.

Sleeper. Deshaun Davis. ...will pull up and hit you and you won't know where you're at ... has no mercy ... the perfect linebacker.

My choice: STruitt. Very little acclaim/very little chatter about him; got himself on campus early; and my choice last year was MDavis, so no reason not to pick this year's MDavis. (Do not have a problem with DD here. Good choice.)

Perfect Fit. Stanton Truitt. Speed. Thinks he'll play multiple roles in our offense.

My choice: Roc. Gus got himself another Felix Jones. FJ ArkanDaze

Steal of the Class. Braden Smith. The first time he met Braden, on a visit to Alabama, he thought he was the biggest high school kid he'd ever seen. Thought he was bama's or Notre Dame's or some school up north. Then BS told him at the UA game he was interested in AU. Great guy, will be a good friend.

My choice: I agree with Tre's choice. Huge pick-up. Way too late in the game to have gotten the guy. Miraculous. This is Gus's finest moment as a recruiter. Big fat gold star to J.B. too. Quality work.

Most Loyal. Stephen Roberts. Once he flipped no chance of going back to them or anywhere.

My choice: I got the interviewee here. But Deshaun, too. And Roc, Nic, Sean, and Stanton.

Quickest Impact. Braden or Nic Ruffin.
Thinks Braden is beastly enough to play right away.
Depth chart will allow Nic a chance at a spot if he comes in and works hard this summer.

My choice: D'haquille. see "best player".
