I just remember that being a big statement by everyone when we missed on everyone and it took way too long to find a replacement for Gus who had totally broke the program down to hell.

Take is slow and get the right guy. Change the culture, get the guys who want to be here, recruit the guys that fit, etc

The “we” in this story is gone, right? President, AD, etc. This is a new HC so obviously that’s all different too

I will agree that time spent for a hire probably doesn’t correlate with success. Freeze seemed to stumble to get a staff in place last season and this feels a bit like that again in ways.

Agree. Waiting means you cant get anyone and you will end up with whats left. Coaching searches an hires need to be quick

I dont care who he hires as long as we dont have a repeat of his utter fail at game day coaching that we got this year.

He has to start proving on the field that he’s going to be around for a while first.

Freeze is safe for a minimum of 4 years unless something off the field happens

Not really. The BOT wanted Steele, but Allen Greene was convinced after a brief interaction in a hot tub that Harsin was the guy. Harsin’s interview was conducted over Zoom and there were technical difficulties. If we had done due diligence, we would have realized what everyone in Boise was saying - that the guy was a prick and was not very popular within the program and the university.

I’m not sure how, it’s completely different.

Last year Freeze wanted Nix and Kiffin, but wanted to bring in Nix as the WR coach. The OM contract complicated that, and it worked out well because Davis has knocked it out of the park.
Kiffin we just could not wait for, with the Browns in the playoffs.

We didn’t have the luxury of time last year like we do this year. I think he made concessions in his hires last year due to time constraints and other factors but this year we don’t have to rush it. What is going on right now that we urgently need a CoDC in place? Not much.

Supposedly JGT is saying it’s possible Charles Kelly is promoted to full DC and someone like Christian Robinson is hired as a LB coach. Absolute worst case scenario.

Woof that would be awful. There are few scenarios I would dislike more than that.

People on this board know more than JGT. He hasn't been plugged in for years.

If it was going to be Kelly then it already would have happened and CrRob got the boot because he did a bad job here. They also said a hire was going to happen like every week for the past 3 weeks. They thought it was Kiffin, the it was for sure Durkin.. Only thing I know for sure is Freeze doesn't leak much info and they guess on the rest.

Could leaks have been some of the reason one position coach and off field position is leaving?

Is it possible both Kiffin and Durkin are still getting NFL looks? NOT attempt at being an insider. Just looking at things, how they are playing out.
