So apparently Nick Coe is starting over Marlon Davidson Saturday. So is there more to his injury that being reported or just giving him an extra week's rest?

Probably resting , and giving nick coe a chance to really cut his teeth. Marlon doesn't need a tune up against a bad team, why risk it
In summary, I like it.

I thought it was already said a week ago that Davidson wasn't going to play this game?

Why rush Marlon back against an option team week one when you have capable backups.

Marcello/247 crew have believed Coe will be a Marcellus Bennet type DE/DT hybrid depending on situation
Wonder if this is a ploy to make Clemson not expect him lining up at DT

I am saying Davidson is worse than they let on. Hell Carl Lawson was day to day with a broke hip.

Eh w a triple option GSU maybe they didn't want to risk Marlons return from a knee injury?

No reason to play Marlon Davidson against Georgia Southern. He has a grade 2 sprain of his MCL. We said that when the injury happened, and we should say the same now.
We just need him ready for Clemson.
Duke Williams had the same thing happen against Texas A&M, IIRC, and he came back against Alabama...and was incredible.

Georgia Southern does a lot of cut blocks.
No need to risk your star DE who is coming off a knee injury

i've heard that GSU wouldn't do as much cut blocking in the spread option scheme as they used to in the triple option, but either way no reason to risk our best DL getting hurt. I'm happy that Coe is gonna get to play a bunch. I've already called him being a freshman All American.

Cut blocks. Absolutely no need to risk Marlon with GSU.

idk where people got this from, but GSU is running the triple option this year

Steele says the key to stopping the triple-option is "eye discipline." Steele has plenty of experience against that offense from his ACC days

They are running the gun-option....with SOME under center work.
The gun option has less cut blocks

Everything I have read says they are running the triple option. The coach just came over from GT. Sounds like a triple option

Yeah, I want to say after last year they decided to drop the gun and go back to the triple option.
Posted on 8/31/17 at 9:36 am to AU_251
The gun option IS the triple option....it is just out of shotgun instead of under center

Gotcha. Well I don't like playing either of them. Lots of room for injury. Here's to coming outta the game healthy and getting a lot of PT for the new guys
