Late December is gonna be tough… catch a predators game at Bridgestone if you can… tour the Ryman… walk around the Opry hotel… they also have an indoor water park at the Opry — Soundwaves.

Lower Broadway will be fun before and after the game… the setup is nice… you can just walk across the pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland River to Nissan Stadium.

Never been to Nashville before. We will be there from late on the 28th - 31st. Any can't miss attractions or things to do?

Broadway bars for drinking/live music. Robert's Western World house band is pretty much the AAA team for pickers who end up touring with the major country acts.

If you like music a little more laid back, try to get tickets to the Bluebird Cafe. It is typically songwriters either playing the hits they have written for others or demoing songs trying to get picked up by the big publishing houses.

Country Music Hall of Fame is worth a few hours, especially if you add the Studio B tour. Even without the trip out to the studio, go drool over Hank Sr.'s Martin D-28 guitar, Bill Monroe's Gibson F5 mandolin, and other instruments. I think the museum now also has all of the Nudie suits from The Flying Burrito Brothers Gilded Palace of Sin album cover. At one time they had Patsy Cline's rebel flag lighter and a few other things recovered from the plane crash site, but I haven't seen them the last couple of times I have been there; I know her family ended up taking back a lot of her stuff from various places. Johnny Cash museum is pretty cool too.

I think this time of year the Grand Ole Opry has moved back to the Ryman from out at Opry Mills. Even to step into the Ryman and do the tour will give you chills, especially if you walk up on the stage; to hear a show there even more so.

Out by Vandy there is Centennial Park. There is a full sized replica of the Parthenon in Athens there (left over from the Tennessee Centennial Exhibition in 1897; Nashville calls itself the Athens of the South). There is an art museum in the lower levels.

I don’t know if there is any benefit from getting tix from AU, but I picked up 2 on Seat Geek for less than $40 a pop. They’re way upper deck (thus my comment about Bob Uecker), but that works for me.

I just grabbed two tickets off SeatGeek - $36 a pop - upper deck seats but on the 1st row....also, via ParkWhiz prepaid for a parking spot in a downtown garage for only $12 (20 min walk)

Our fourth grader won their local flag football league… part of the reward is getting to go down on the field at the Music City Bowl… so if anyone sees a 10 yr old walking around pregame with a cam Newton #2 jersey he’s mine

For those going, I stayed at the Westin for the Vandy game. Easy walk to Broadway. I had friends at the Cambria....same . I preferred the hotel bar at the Cambria over the Westin.
They had live music. Both nice hotels and walkable to most attractions.

This should be on your list. Also, while it's not downtown, the Opryland Hotel is a good place to eat, drink and see but it will be crowded.

PJ covered almost of it in his post. Only think he missed I guess is for the wives or shoppers. Got Opry mills mall outlet and high end you have Greenhills.

There are actually some very good food in the area as well even on the outside of Nashville like Franklin and surrounding towns.

Hate the downtown location closed but my favorite was Demos’. Would get the bacon wrapped filet of beef with a side of spaghetti, open it up with their classic chicken and rice soup. But you have to the suburbs to find it now it used to downtown 1 block off of broadway on 3rd Ave

Anyone staying for New Year’s Eve last years concert to drop the music note had an insane group of singers. I don’t mind country music but wouldn’t call myself a fan.

And if you are downtown and don’t want to cross the pedestrian bridge you can drive there easily if you go up to capitol st and come in the backside of the stadium

Is there anything wrong with Crossing The Pedestrian bridge? I've already reserved a parking spot in downtown and plan to take the pedestrian bridge to and from the stadium

Absolutely not. That's by far the best way to get from the stadium to Broadway.

You have been there for sure. The filet of beef is solid and spaghetti should be their brown butter and garlic.

The original spot is in Murfreesboro and is still a great place for families. You'd be hard pressed to find similar food for the price.

I had a couple quarts of their soup sent each year to my daughter for exam week when she was in school in NY.

Full disclosure; my last visit wasn't as good but I guess everyone has an off day.

I go to Nashville about 4-6 times a year for the past 20 years.

Pedestrian bridge only issue is if the weather is bad or it’s windy and cold the wind coming off the Cumberland is brutal. Other then that it’s great

Opry Mills has gone downhill since the flood of 2010. There used to be a Gibson store there which was awesome to go check out the instruments and see them working on the acoustics, but I think the flood cost them several hundred thousand dollars in inventory and they decided not to return.

If you are a history buff, Stones River Battlefield is over in Murfreesboro, and you would be there at the same time of year as the battle.

You can also go down to Franklin and see where Hood destroyed the Army of Tennessee - he lost 12 generals (6 killed, 5 wounded, 1 captured) and 60 of 100 regimental commanders were killed or wounded. Most of the Franklin and Nashville battlefields have been lost to development (much like Atlanta because southerners didn't want to preserve the sites of losses) but there are some places protected and a few monuments here and there.

Foodwise, the Loveless Cafe is world famous, but you have to get there early or be prepared to wait a long time for a table. When we were there about 10 years ago we really liked Jack's BBQ on Broadway, but most folks say it is down the list of Nashville BBQ places.

Hell I like food and I like BBQ.

I often just because it’s decent food for a decent price and sorta like home cooking slide into Bar-B-Qutie. Solid little BBQ spot. No you aren’t getting world class BBQ

Merchants ain’t bad if you like that sort of thing. If you want white table cloth.

Lots of new dinner/bar combo locations that I haven’t tried on Broadway. Celebrities have come in and bought up some of the old places and turned them into chain like places not the same cozy feel.

But whoever posted above that Nashville is much like NOLA without the piss and vomit smell was telling the truth. If you have little ones you are good on Broadway up until about 10pm.

I live here so I'm probably biased but I don't think of Nashville and New Orleans being at all alike.

No white table cloths but plenty of $$ - to me by far the best restaurant is The Southern - Steak and Oyster

Right downtown in the middle of it all. Spectacular dining/menu
