On what the defense is working on this week: Fundamentals, points of emphasis, shedding blocks, etc.
"You need to address the things you're not doing well and we're just not playing well in the front seven."
Calls front seven "very poor" with shedding blocks and has been "very disappointed" with "very inconsistent" progress on those topics
Cassanova McKinzy "made some plays" in first start at Buck. "Everything was totally new" for him. Got some pressure 1-on-1.
Tre' Williams and Tim Irvin (bone bruise, foot) are expected back at Kentucky
Carlton Davis doing well. On TD he was beat on, not a lot Davis could do, was in position to make a play.
On T.J. Davis: "Another guy that (could) be able to go in the fold."
Byron Cowart is "playing very well" in ~20 snaps per game
Says Cowart is someone who is very hard on himself and getting freshmen to understand they can play well without having production is always a challenge
On another 400-yard performance: "Certainly not something I'm used to" and not something they want anyone to be accustomed to
Jaun'tavius Johnson is closer to playing
Says Devaroe Lawrence and Maurice Swain need to improve
quote:
Muschamp says they'll look at Cass playing the Buck again against Kentucky. "We'll continue to find out the best 11 for us."
quote:
Muschamp mentions Andrew Williams and Jauntavius Johnson could get some opportunities to give them a chance

Auburn DC Will Muschamp work last two days has been "outstanding," in response to question about if players are engaged
quote:
Auburn DC Will Muschamp Carlton Davis "absolutely" playing well enough to continue starting for defense
quote:
Muschamp says Rudy Ford was better last week. "he's certainly a guy willing to work and do the things to be successful"
quote:
Muschamp on his concerns on secondary with front seven struggling "hell they ain't got to throw it"
quote:
Muschamp said Justin Garrett was "solid' at middle linebacker.
quote:
Auburn DC Will Muschamp "so many things we need to improve on"

Will Muschamp says he's very disappointed with the progress so far this year at getting off blocks in the front seven on defense

Well at least he's telling it like it is. Hopefully we can start putting the best 11 out there. That front 7 is shite.

so he is stressing that our front sucks and are essentially limited on defense to what they can do. I wonder if he will push the issue of finding another lineman coach if the piss poor play continues up front?

Since Frost is so good at avoiding contact, we should put him at TE and feed him the ball in the redzone

Give me coach speak or give me death

Bring back Tracy Rocker. In 2010, an otherwise awful defense was made somewhat good by defensive line play. If we can fix dl problems, our defense will instantly get better.

Bring in anyone who can coach these guys to a mean streak.
Coaching, not recruiting ability, should be an absolute prerequisite for an O or D line coach.

I bet there are some white boards that have gotten destroyed lately.
And I love that.

Meh. Fairley, Bynes, and Clayton made that front 7 great. But they still could not rush the passer from the DE position.

People lose their shite over Rocker but he isnt that great.

Yeah I remember people wanting to run Rocker off when we sucked on D a couple years back. We are one to two players away from being a decent team on defense. Carl would have helped. Not sure what to say about our offense, they might need 3 to 4 players. JJ was one of them.

Rocker sucked just as bad when he didn't have Fairley. We need Lawson to be healthy. Not a whole lot else we can do until then.

Interested in seeing these two kids play, especially Johnson.

So what he really wanted to say is Garner didn't develop shite before he arrived, and that's making him look bad.

Our d-line sucks big time. Only Monty is any good at all. Why pass when every team can run on us.

Absolutely this
Rocker is pretty overrated & if I recall the complaint then about him was how he hated recruiting. I highly doubt if Fairley goes down with injury in 2010 we have the season we have & people are calling for return of Rocker
