From 247:
General Notes:
-Decision not expected till late in the week. Possibly next week.
-Malzahn has three candidates. No one knows or will say who the other two are.
-Player meeting on Mon. Was about Johnson's departure. Players were assured a top notch coach. No names mentioned.
Muschamp Notes:
-Muschamp is in Caribbean. Doesnt mean offer couldn't be made and accepted
-His Wife loved living in AU and would like to do it again
-could have NFL offers. Would have to wait to end of NFL season if he wants that route
-Unlikely to just stay out of coaching for the year
-Will likely get paid around 1.5M.

I like Boom. He's been one of my favorite coaches in CFB since he coached here the first time.
I might have a DSOR sized meltdown if this doesn't happen.

So if Boom gets 1.5 million, is it going to be weird that he essentially is making about the same amount of money as Gus?

He may be making the same amount but most of that isn't from Auburn so no its not that weird

I understand just interesting that he will be making HC moneyz

Or are you including his money from UF?

Including UF money and just saying Muschamp is doing well for himself. Not saying it is bad just fricking awesome for him
Same way I view Charlie Weiss being one of the highest paid CFB coaches despite not coaching

The fact that he has not gotten a job in the NFL again should point to schools "Hey don't hire this guy. Probably a fraud"

What am I missing about Muschamp other than he is a big name? Why do people want him so badly? His defensive prowess, is it more perception than reality? His team are always among the top most penalized teams.

He has a track record of success. Solid recruiter. Energetic. Known quantity.

People have been posting his defensive stats all over. Outside of one year at Texas (which clearly had problems outside his control), Muschamp has had top rated defenses every year he has been DC or higher. Don't get much better than that, especially with changing offensive schemes

It is actually more impressive they don't have more penalties considering some of the kids he inherited from Meyer

That's solid. Hope we get him then. I just haven't been impressed with his Florida defensive except for 2012. Wasn't very good the last 2 years in a weak SEC East division.

I'm just not that sure on Kelly... FSU has regressed considerably on defense this year. I now they lost a bunch of guys to the league, but they're still loaded with NFL talent.
