I agree to a point, but I think he was sandbagging because of injuries, and just like all of us, thought our backups could beat JSU. He hasn't forgot how to coach, and having our starters ready for LSU is a priority. I am hoping that playing so many freshman pays off later in the season.

I just hope the guys from the 2012 abortion of a team remember how it felt to lose and step up this week and say we ain't having this again.

We need JJ to run on the Read option. Ya he likely won't break past 5-10 yards but we don't need him to. We just need him to average 4-6 yards on RO to force defenses to take him into account.

Gus was sandbagging/very conservative with the offensive playcalling. I said this last night. We ran about 5 different plays and Duke ran about 2 different routes. It's what Gus does in games like yesterday. We've seen it before and it almost cost us the game. Now that doesn't mean that JJ will be good next week, but the horrendous playcalling didn't help him at all yesterday.

If Gus was sandbagging, he's not very smart.

if you're claim is that Gus is sandbagging

I don't think Gus is sandbagging but I do think that he was looking ahead a week. I think Lawson and Mathews could have played from listening to Jay Jacobs on the radio pregame. But, IMO Gus is looking ahead and making sure they are ready for LSU.

I think Gus is also waiting to use JJ in the run game. Probably to keep him healthy.

Are there deficiencies? Hell yeah. OL has got to step up. We need Holsey/Countess to play. And JJ has got to protect the ball.

How is Holsey, by the way? Didn't look good.

Malzahn took chances by playing conservatively and holding back. He has done it every year that I can remember.
Add in that we only played our base defense the entire second half. We gave a 10 yard cushion on every play and left the quick slant to the slot receiver open the entire game. Never adjusted. We stretched the field once the entire game on offense, which happened to be a wheel route to Roc.

This game was the worst coached game i have ever seen...zero adjustments, terrible playcalling, and a timid Qb and the results speak for themselves. It felt like 2012 in the stadium.

In short, the team played down to the competition, had zero sense of urgency and were going through the motions. Buuuuut, when we needed to make the plays, we did. When we needed to stop them and get the ball back, we did. When we needed a game tying TD with less than a minute left, we did. And when we needed someone to carry the team to victory, PB & J stepped up. Shitty competition aside, our boys responded when they needed to.

That could be because the majority of the 1st string D was injured or otherwise removed from the game. What was it? Six guys missing? The second half D was held together with duct tape and bubble gum towards the end of that game, and what do you do with a bunch of young guys with little experience? Run a base D and ask them to make plays when they can.

Do you all really believe our offense is being fully implemented? do you all really believe 60 plays a game is what we are?

Will be watching from home. So I can scream, cheer and cry if needed in the privacy of my own refrigerator.
