I am still on the Gus bus. No way he could have seen JJ coming. Champ was an awesome hire. We get a mobile QB next year, we will be solid.

I'm hopeful for gus. But I also kind of see him as a bipolar coach. Don't know what you're going to get.

When he's on he is awesome, and he needs a running qb to be on.

They need to go into the juco ranks and grab a couple of difference makers.

I don't want Gus fired, but there's no way that JJ came out of nowhere. There had to be signs. They just didn't pick up on them.

Always thought that the "committee" was more to save JJ if it didnt work out....now seeing this I am even more convinced

Right, that's what I don't get. Some are saying that the playcalling is handcuffed because we don't have a quarterback (with White's injury), and I certainly agree with that. But at what point do we hold the coaches accountable for the players? JJ was groomed for 3 years at this position. It's Lashlee/Malzahn's for not developing him or finding someone who could perform at a high level. There had to be indicators he was this bad.

Was he though? If you recall, JJ never had any clean up duty. NM would always go the distance. The only sample size we had was against Arky, who is terrible against the pass. They are currently 6-4, and you think they are in the mist of a dynasty. Gus was always able to hide Cam's and NM's passing deficiencies with their legs until they developed a passing game. White and JJ doesn't have that option. And before someone claim Cam was all world, etc, he was very suspect the first 3-4 games.

That is my biggest gripe about Auburn football over the last 4 decades. We do a shitty job of developing the next QB by not getting him snaps in games.

All you have to do is watch the spring game. He was throwing to defenders in that game and you can see his awful footwork and mechanics as well.

I blame the qb situation more than Gus.

If you don't have a QB, fine. The problem is he's got the third-best RB in the SEC at worst on his roster yet completely goes away from him in the second half in favor of passes that don't go any farther than 5 yards.

Just abysmal playcalling and strategy. Mindboggling.

You have never seen a coach feel like they have the right player, looks great in practice, shows all the qualities you need in a leader, and then just dies, when the lights go on?
Then you have never watched enough football.
It happens. Look at Alabama, they got Coker and expected him to step in last year, and be the starter. Didnt happen. This year, Cooper Bateman was the starter, and they realized he wasnt working out, and had to Coker. He still struggles at times, but with their running game and D, they only need him to manage game.

There are others who simply didnt pan out at QB.
JJ simply made rookie mistakes, and bad judgements. How can you blame coaches for that?

Uh???? I know we gave up a punt return yesterday so the wound is fresh but ST have been solid past 3 seasons. Have they been perfect? No but no one's is. There is plenty to complain about when it comes to Gus for sure but special teams is not one of them

Our special teams have become atrocious compared to when Boulware was here. And that is a fact. If you cannot see how much worse we are then that is on you.

To be fair, when Golson went out our inside run game became non-existent. Dampeer is really bad.

Yes, because we were so fricking good last year.

The offense works with a QB like White. The receivers aren't getting open, and they are also dropping a lot of balls(I think we need to recruit more true receivers out of high school, not converted QBs).

Malzahn's play calling has hurt this offense a lot more than the QB. He's always had questionable decision making. Even 2010/2013 he called plays or made certain decisions that left everyone wondering why the frick we would do that..

I can't say our special teams have been atrocious when we have a kicker that is about to win the Lou Groza. Yeah that punt return was from horrible coverage but, mostly, that just an outlier of the rest if the year. And when Boulware was here, his punt returners couldn't catch a fricking punt.

The offense is fine with White. Especially if the defense keeps playing this way.
