Unfortunately CGM will have the same QBs to work with next year. Not looking good for Gus after next season.

ETA: Jay Jacobs should resign due to the poor hiring and performance of our baseball, basketball, and several football coaches/teams.

Nice rebuttal. How many shite baseball coaches does he get to hire. What about basketball? Football too. He's been an Auburn employee for over 30 fricking years and the AD for 11. What the hell are people thinking?

Oh, now you want a complex argument for a two cent, worn out fire Jay Jacobs post. Who are his bad hires that he should be accountable for? Malzahn was hired by a hiring committee.

Jay Jacobs doesn't even belong in this thread. It's like "Gus is one dimensional so fire Jay Jacobs."

He hired a winner in Golloway and he hired a winner in Pearl so obviously when they don't work out it won't be all Jacob's fault. Albeit, Jacobs took a disgruntled Golloway but I can't fault Jacobs for giving Golloway a chance.

And most of the Auburn fans liked the Malzahn hire so how exactly is Jacobs at fault for that one? Just like everyone liked the Muschamp hire. Was that hire fricked up too?

Three weeks ago, Fire Muschamp.

This week, make him head coach.

Its not Jacobs fault. He has done fine lately.

4 different baseball coaches under Jacobs. Basketball? Squandering of money. As far as whether fans approve or disapprove is silly. Look at performance. Also the OP mentioned whether Jacobs should get to hire another football coach..?

Jacobs doesn't have a fricking crystal ball man. So if the fans approved of it, why should Jacobs be the scapegoat if it doesn't work out? And all four hires in baseball tells me is that Jacobs is TRYING to fix it.

I think Muschamp is going to get some decent HC offers and bolt.

Highly doubtful. He is one year removed from HC at Florida. The fact McElwain has come in and is dominating the east and will be playing in the SECC shows that UF had talent and Muschamp couldn't get it done with all that talent.

I like Will and think he will get another chance as a HC, but it won't be next year and maybe not even the year after that. He is getting PAID and doesn't have half the stress as being a HC

Because he is an embarrassment to our University. At SEC meeting he gets railroaded because he is simply just proud to be there. Him getting railroaded about the schedule with Gump and Ga both being home or away should have been the last straw for him.

Basketball?

He has hired the best basketball coach in this program's history. The other hires appeared to be good too at the time.

Underperformance, in the corporate world, gets CEOs fired.

But getting back on topic, we will have the same QBs next season. Not looking good.

I don't think he's underperforming in his basketball hires given our history in that sport.

If that's true, then hopefully we'll pull a Gus/Chizik and bring Muschamp back

Softball too.

Gus got us to the NC game. The D derping it up cost us the NC. This year is a shite show. Hopefully Gus will get things figured out before next season. I am not a JJ fan, at all, but he has hired coaches that have greatly improved some of our programs. Most Auburn fans would not have traded Gus for anybody two seasons ago.

Special teams were a 10 point difference in that game. Special teams have gone completely downhill since Gus got here. Yet Fountain remains.

Agreed. IMO, his biggest flaws have been some of the large buyouts that he's given these coaches, not really the hires themselves.

I agree with your whole post but the above is my point. Is it right to yell for Jacob's head just because Gus is having an underwhelming year when the same people were happy with the hire?

Uh???? I know we gave up a punt return yesterday so the wound is fresh but ST have been solid past 3 seasons. Have they been perfect? No but no one's is. There is plenty to complain about when it comes to Gus for sure but special teams is not one of them
