Maryland had two plays that accounted for 117 yards and 193 yards on their other 54 plays…. Defense had 3 sacks… 6 TFLs… and a pick. Should have had at least two more turnovers as well. The starting QB Edwards was 10-26 on the day.

Granted, Maryland had zero incentive to take chances in the 2nd half… but still, they had 41 yards of offense and no points in final two quarters… and just 3 points in final 45 minutes (tipped pass reception and a dropped pick could’ve easily prevented the FG drive).

Given who we were missing on D, I thought the unit played pretty well… gotta think having some of those guys playing would’ve prevented the explosive plays

Yes he did… nix still has to make that tackle tho.

The other big play was just a perfect ball by Edge… both of their QBs sucked, but damn that was a pretty pass. Our seats were right in that corner.

We made a backup QB look extremely good. And maybe he is. But the fact is that it took us way too long to figure out what they were doing. We’ve played really solid defense at times this season, but we’ve also played really sloppy at times and in situations when it really counts, we look disoriented and confused.

Add me to the disoriented and confused list from yesterday.

They gave up 24 points in the first quarter. Disagree.

Maybe?…I guess?…depending on how you’re looking at it.

But?…they really didn’t play that GOOD either did they?

Because we didn’t give up any more points to Maryland than we did to New Mexico State.

And we held BOTH bama and uga to less points than MD hung on us yesterday.

So?…just how bad did the defense NOT play yesterday?

For the defense the damage was done in the first three drives. The defense was technically a stone wall in the second half. It was also the strongest side of the ball all year, however I feel that start negatively fed the morale of the team and set the tone. Because we also got cooked by the backup and the backup of the backup, I think they can only earn a D+.

Golly!!…

…Wouldn’t it be just SWELL if our “backup”, and our “backup-backup” could cook like that?

Geez?…then we’d be the “Bee’s Knees” for sure.

My mom always said never be envious of what other people has. But she doesnt know how every shite school has at least 1 QB-WR tandem that puts Auburn's to shame and that is a rule that has spanned for years.

This was the issue all year. Defense played well enough...but got worn down later in games because the offense was straight up trash. Aggy, Ole Miss, NMST, all come to mind.

A shitty QB can make a great WR look marginal. Shitty receivers can make a good QB look marginal.

A GOD-DAMN serviceable and competent O-Line can make BOTH of them look like “Hall-of-Fame” inductee’s!!

BTW?…Did anyone else happen to watch the newly appointed NFL “journeyman” starting QB for the Broncos lead his team to a victory today???

About 2 times every decade Auburn sports an offense with a pulse. We are are overdue a year.

We were down 21-0 before the offense got 3 drives in.

The defense was bad. There’s no analysis that explains that. We got whooped.

The defense looked like shite the first quarter and we never were able to come back from it.

As a wise Tiger once said, “ It’s the Offensive Line, stupid”

Auburn’s OL has been in the bottom third of the conference for many years
now ( thanks, Gus).

The SEC is a line of scrimmage, power conference. Big-time skill position players want to showcase their talents playing behind competitive lines.

Want a top QB? …. build a decent OL with some quality depth. Takes a few years of development, but Auburn can eventually get there.

Want a stud cornerback? ….. build a competitive DL. We’ve been spoiled with a decent or better DL for years, but is now in decline.

NIL needs to address the “Jimmies and Joes” ….
