Arkansas's offense could give us trouble... they'll have some success running the ball and keeping procession. I think Brandon Allen will be less of a liability this season. We should probably name our score offensively, however.

If you're arkansas, the gameplan is own time of procession, win the turnover battle, and get it to the fourth quarter with a chance. They're better when playing from ahead, so scoring early is critical. The ark DL is solid, but nothing our OL can't handle. It's going to be extremely hot, and we should have the depth advantage.

31-20 is my prediction.... Gonna be tighter than most think.

38-17

AU does not cover.

Arky will prob keep the ball for 32-35 minutes keep our O off the field.

I have a feeling first games will be a lot better with Gus in command then Tubbs when we seemingly dropped every first game against even mediocre competition.

45-17 AU...They get behind early and have to throw, which will suck for them.

Coming into Jordan Hare with so many questions and we have a veteran offense. Auburn wins by 24.

Just read that... dear lord how delusional do you have to be to think auburn didn't run a vanilla gameplan in Fayetteville last year (while Bert fricking tried every trick in the book to keep from getting blown out and it still didn't work)?

Reading dumb shite like that makes me hope we pound the shite out of them.... but I just don't see it.

For those unaware, here's a link to the thread for the Arky lurkers.

LINK

The game sort of worries me with it being a conference game for a season opener. But still this game is at home and Arky's offense doesn't scare me in the least.

I also find it funny that some of them have convinced themselves that Gus went all out last year. For crying out loud we only threw 8 passes in that game, but Gus went "didn't hold back"

I read their thread earlier when I saw it mentioned in this thread. That delusion tickled me. To reiterate your point, Gus threw the ball 9 times, but he wasn't holding anything back? What imbeciles.

Now I'm not sure we cover the 24 point line. I think that's a bit ridiculous. However, I do think our guys score in the 40's, high 30's at the least, and I just don't see Arky being able to score that much.

Game could be a close one but like someone said (and I agree) they think first games are going to be different under Gus. AU by 14+

I honestly am not worried about this game. Loved Tubs, but hated how he held back and sat on leads. Chizik was successful because of Gus. This is going to be the most prolific offense we've seen in a long, long time. Defense should be improved. For some reason, people want to think our run game is going to be hurt because Tre and GRob left. CAP, Grant, Barber, Thomas and Marshall are gonna be ridiculous. Couple that with any improvement in passing from Marshall, with two of the best receivers in the SEC to catch passes? frick you, Bert. Arkansas is going to get their feelings hurt, bad.

I agree that they will have trouble playing from behind. I figure bert will take the ball if he wins the toss. What do they have defensively in the back 7?

They went to red stick and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. I am concerned but feel we will pull it out late.

Yea I'm not confident enough to predict a 24 point win at this moment (not saying it couldn't happen just not confident predicting it) but I could definitely see it being anywhere from a one score game until the third or forth quarter to us having a comfortable 10 point lead the whole game before putting it away in the fourth.

Normally opening against an SEC opponent worries me.

Not so much this year though, and it is more about us than who we play. I expect the offense to come out in midseason form witheveryone we have back. I also expect the team to come out angry. I'm still not over how last season ended, I'm still pissed and feel like we gave the game away. I expect our players and coaches doubly so.

Wish we could just open the season at bama. I would predict a ten point iron bowl win in turdand if we opened with them.

I think we will have a comfortable lead in the 3rd and I'd like to put JJ in to see what he can do with Coates and Duke...or do we leave Marshall in to gain stats for his Heisman run?

Arky was the most physical team we played last year and that was the hallmark of their season, they played hard and physical but were out talented and coached on multiple levels.

Bret is going to throw everything at us to win this game, he's lost all SEC games. He hates Gus and the spread with a passion. Their offense will give our defense fits at times due to it being a power run downhill team but we should stop them. The question is how will our offense execute, if our offense doesn't fall off a cliff from last year to this year we should win this comfortably.

MSU is the game I'm a bit mor concerned about. MSU has a lot of experience and I expect them to be tough this year in Starkville.
