Or lack thereof

I'd rather have actual host of the Red Zone Channel Scott Hanson calling plays in the red zone than Gus

It's cost us the MSU game and now maybe Ole Miss

You can't have a red zone offense without intermediate routes and we have none of them. We have a 40 yard pass or we have a 3 yard run.

No problems adding another highschool coach to the staff this off-season won't fix.

It also cost us in overtime last week

As pathetic as they are, I have to say Team JJ is right about one thing... Gus can't call plays without a QB whose primary skill is running the read option.
One of the biggest myths that Auburn fans believed in for years is that Gus can create offense with runners and passers behind center.
We were wrong. Doesn't sound like it would be that hard to take advantage of a good passer behind center, but our retard head coach DOES find it that hard.

No one is Team JJ. He's obviously not the answer. My hope is for Gus to somehow figure out how to score with White. I have more faith in him finding a duel threat QB then to figure out how to get the ball in the end zone with White. This herp derp in the redzone doesn't appear to be stopping.

I still don't think that is true and here is why:
The read option covers inadequacies when run well. Nick Marshall and Tre Mason covered up shitty red zone play calling in 2013, CAP wasn't able to cover it up like Mason was and now it has come home to roost.

There is nothing to discuss. We call low percentage, predictable plays or we yank out our qb and insert a guy who has struggled all year and kill our momentum with a bone headed call. Gus and Rhett insist on making our offense work 10 times as hard for touchdowns in the red zone. It's now cost us 3 games and possibly more if you go back to last year.

1. Our OL is not dominating enough to line up and run it in tight spaces which is what Gus really wants to do.
2. We don't have a QB who makes the defense respect the read option
3. We don't have a big wide receiver we can throw fade or jump balls to or command a double team.
4. We don't have a tight end.
5. Gus doesn't trust his players for the reasons stated and thus goes full derp trying to "trick" the other team.

6. We will roll the qb to the short side and run a one receiver route, when that guy is double covered we lose yards.

Killed us in the iron bowl last year. Might've paid off to come up with one or two plays in the off season. I assume he was too busy evaluating JJ.

I'll disagree for this reason. How many times have we put together long drives and then gone full retard in play selection inside the 5? Pulling gaurds and read options work great with room to operate but inside the 5 the success rate goes down with the defense crowding the line. This is where we need to threaten the edge either with Kerryon running the read option or running some sort of toss sweep with Barber or Robinson. Gus has become extremely one dimensional in red zone offense play selection. Have we ever run a legit play action pass inside the 5? I know I've seen us under center inside the 5 but we have not developed more than one or two plays out of the formation. I guess my point to all of this is that we don't absolutely have to have a dominant o line to be successful if we would just run some tried and true football plays and make smart play calls.

When you don't have a TE or a big WR, red zone offense is hard.
I think Gus expects Cox to be that guy, and that's poor thinking. He runs and catches like a FB. I don't see anyone on the roster who can fill that role.

We did this yesterday. Barber got absolutely stoned for a loss when we did.
There is nothing wrong with pulling guards in the redzone. We need our rb to follow where the play is designed to go.

This is spot on! We now realize what a fortunate situation we had on offense in 2013, and Gus basically backed into it.
1. Dominant OL, specifically with Robinson
2. Talented RB who had excellent field vision and IQ
3. Elite QB who could run and pass well
We might only have aspect #2 on the current team in Jovon or Peyton, but we really don't know because we shuffle player so much.
The play calling in 2013 was no better than it is currently, but it worked because we only needed a handful of plays to move the ball effectively. We saw this nearly catch up to us against UGA and FSU.
Does Gus truly only excel when he can run this dumbed down version of offense? This or rise me badly.
He'll have next season to prove otherwise, but at this point, I think next season maybe his last in Auburn. I have 0 confidence he'll dramatically change his ways any time soon.

He is still a relatively new college coach and still has a lot to learn. We will see if he is willing to make changes by next year as to whether he will grow or not. I really think he needs to help Lashlee find another job to move forward. He needs someone to challenge him and his offense to help it grow instead of a guy that only really knows this style of offense.
