He's here today. He arrived this morning and will be leaving this afternoon. It's an unofficial visit so no hookers and blow. He's just here to chat with the coaches and get a better idea of our plan to utilize him.

We have a few things going against us here.

His gf goes to Baylor. Baylor is a lot closer to TAMU
Our offense is terrible
He's aware Lashlee may leave.

Our only hope is for TAMU to back off IMHO.

He's in Auburn right now. This is all being discussed in the recruiting thread by the way

A&M backing off sounds ridiculous but they're doing a balancing act right now between a freshman QB they have committed and Stidham. Sumlin hasn't even met Stidham because of the freshman QB

Guys in college really aren't that loyal to their girlfriends, especially athletes. This is a nonissue.

/positiger, our offense isn't nearly as bad as Auburn message boarders make it out to be (thank God) and it's clear that the only missing piece is a QB that doesn't suck.

Sumlin is more on the hotseat than Gus, and Auburn is a better team overall, so hopefully he sees that. Briles already sent one guy our way, no reason to think he couldn't send another

Just because he may end up not being loyal doesn't mean it doesn't matter to him

I agree it is stupid and long run doesn't matter, but if he thinks it is important between now and enrollment, it is a big deal

It is when we don't have a capable QB. When we do, we steamroll people. If we had this years defense on either the 2010 or 2013 teams, we would have been just about unbeatable.

Even when Sean White started getting comfortable before he got hurt, our offense started humming, and he's not a running QB. Put a running QB in there who can throw the ball(and he doesn't have be an amazing passer) and this offense always has the opportunity to take off. But when we throw someone like Jeremy Johnson, who is absolutely no threat to throw the ball past about 5-10 yards, the offense implodes.

Look at what Alabama has been able to do with Sims and Hurts. They were pretty good offenses with their game manager QB's, and they had running games that would just grind you down, but with a QB that can run too and implementing pieces of the spread, they've become a dynamic offense that Saban had never had before.

They would've been unbeatable. Auburn goes 14-0 in both. Hell, they did it in 2010 with a defense with an atrocious pass defense.

Gus wouldn't even know what to do with Stidham. He's going to A&M because they actually have some semblance of a passing offense. Their offense is a hell of a lot closer to Baylor's than ours is.

More could be done with Jarrett Stidham than Sean White. Bigger, better runner, more durable, bigger arm, more accurate deep ball, etc.

Gus' passing offense is a joke, and Stidham most certainly isn't going anywhere on the basis of getting to run the football, so that point is moot.

It never made any logical sense for Stidham to choose Auburn over A&M. It seems like we were only a stop gap leader until A&M committed to recruiting him. They throw the football 100+ times more per year than we do...which offense do you think a passing quarterback is going to prefer?

It never seemed logical for Auburn to land Eli Stove, Nate Craig-Myers and Kyle Davis in the same class, either.

You pretty much writing off the possibility of him coming to Auburn is illogical.

Its called Demeyune Craig. If you haven't noticed by now, Gus isn't fooling anyone with his quarterback recruiting. His offense is obviously heavily run focused, and the only quarterbacks who have thrived have been run-first quarterbacks (don't even bother bringing some crap up about Todd or Tulsa). This may help you recruit players like Woody Barrett, but a passing QB? Good luck. You don't even need to negative recruit Gus when he comes out and plays some 5 QB rotation which includes a FB lining up at QB.

Yeah, because everyone knows what great success Sumlin has had with 5-star QBs.

Auburn has a chance to land him. Period.
