Because everywhere else our roster is deeper than I've seen it since 2004. We are stacked everywhere else. And I can't remember when we've had so many big guys that can run on D. Personnel wise, it's better than 2004, save our DC.

We are fine at RB barring injuries, the success of the season depends on QB play this year.

I disagree. Talent-wise we are better on D than we were in 04. Now, we don't have the coaching talent on that side of the ball like we did in '04, but the players are more talented IMO.

You could say the same about QB though IMO. And I'm more concerned about RB than I am QB at this point. Sean White is a good QB and I'm hopeful that the coaches actually let him play the game and don't go full retard with his play calls this year.

I'm positiger #1, but we are thin thin thin at RB no matter how we spin it, and RB is more important to our offense than the average offense IMO. Especially without a Cam or Marshall at QB. Kerryon is a damn good football player, but until I see it I won't be sold he can be the guy and carry the load. It's concerning as hell that Pettway is the second option. He's an NFL caliber FB, but at RB until he can show otherwise it's wrong to expect him to be anything more than a short yardage, 3 yards and a cloud of dust back. Word out of camp is Pettway is #sloooww, so at this point my personal expectations are Peyton Barber but slower (and with better vision one can assume.) And the Martin kid is 180 soaking wet, so again it's wrong to expect more than some speed sweeps out of him. Miller is in the same mold as Pettway, but hopefully he's a step faster...

Kerryon Johnson and Sean White are the two injuries we can least afford this year, and it's not close. Those two have to stay healthy for us to have a good season. And unfortunately for us I think they might be the most injury prone.

Last year we were in a similar situation with how important Lawson was to our defense. We all said he was the one guy that couldn't get hurt... That lasted 25 minutes into the season. Our defense derailing after that just got overshadowed by the dumpster fire that was JJ at QB and our coaches inability to adjust.

Cross your fingers, boys!

RB is fine, but thin. This entire season hinges on QB play.

It's always been about the QB spot. Find a leader, you have a team. No QB = no team.

You find your guy, the rest falls into place.

In the modern game of football I can't see being concerned about the RB position. We will be fine in that spot. I like most have great concern about the QB position and some concern about the tackles on O.

No one actually knows that... in August of 2004, the general mood of the fanbase was pretty down... we had a good bit of talent to replace off that 2003 defense, serious questions at QB, and no proven WRs.

In hindsight, yeah... it seems absurd... but the reality is we need to let it play out.

That's true for many teams, but for our offense that's asinine. This isn't the NFL, and we run a very different version of the spread from the Ole Miss and Texas A&M's of the world.

Gus runs a power-run offense that at its core is far from modern. QB is always going to be the most important position on the field, BUT the only offenses where RB is more important than in ours are triple-options and maybe Bert's fat boy offense.

We have some big question marks at OL. How well Golson transitions to LT and Dampener at OC

Shouldn't be garbage but not up to the standard OL of the Malzahn era

We might not have a Marcus McNeill at tackle, but it's two upperclassmen with a good amount of experience, a solid center, and possibly the best pair of guards in the entire country

That's pretty far from a shite show
