I never played WR, but I don't see how say Malachi Dupre forgot to catch a football because DCraig showed up. I can understand say poor route running but it isn't like DCraig is putting butter on their gloves

Anyone who thinks that a WR coach can have a profound impact on dropped balls (both positive and negative) is lost, even moreso in an extremely short time-frame of reference. Catching technique is the same on the college level as it is in youth football. Everyone teaches their receivers the same thing (look the ball in, attack the ball versus letting the ball attack you, etc). Everything else is pure repetition. The idea that Craig somehow made LSUs receivers forget how to catch the football in a few months is comical.

What you are seeing this year is more offensive cohesion and improved quarterback play from White. No shite the receivers are going to look better. To state that we had serious offensive problems last year would be an understatement.

I definitely agree with negative aspect. You don't just forget how to catch or what you've learned at WR. That is stupid logic

The improve "drop balls" is a little more vague. Youc an't fix Ricardo Louis brick hands batting the ball to the ground on open passes. You can help WRs be in position to have easier catches though which should result in more catches

I totally believe a WR coach can improve/develop players to "catch better." Improve route running, body control and positioning all can contribute to makign catches easier/reduced drops. They are all things that good drills and technique can help improve too

you can dress it up any way you like sweetheart but the proof is on the field. during DC's time receivers constantly ran half arse routes, jogged or just stood there after the snap on plays, didnt catch worth a shite. now they are once again playing physical, giving effort and catching well. to dent that is being dishonest, which is well established you are ok with for the sake of being argumentative.

Meta and GC,

I disagree.

You addressed mechanics, blah, form / technique, blah, years, whatever, but not heart. How about the mental game? Focus, heart, guts, will, effort. None of that was addressed in either post, unfortunately.

Take any profession, company, organization and change the boss, mgr., supervisor or best of all, leader. Even a change in colleague(s) can make a huge difference in motivation and performance.

Kodi is just a few short years away from CFB at AU. Won a national championship. Converted (and contributing WR). Team leader then and now. Ups and downs. CDC was 20+ years ago and has been there and here and done this and that in the meantime before returning to AU and leaving.

Regardless of ability / skill / production so far, a change in coach or boss and the mentality and approach that that can bring is immeasurable. So far, things look much better. Let's see what happens over the next few weeks and through the season and discuss in the off season. I am extremely surprised and happy with CKB and the receiver crops so far and anyone who is not, should (IMO).

P.S. - Not bragging, but feel free to check my guesses at Pettway carries, SW pass attempts in the over / under threads. Luck maybe. Or, my call and rationale to rally around SW way back whenever you care to look back. I won't clutter bump. My posts =90% chance of various stages of drunking, dranken, drank, hungover. I'm not always drink. I just usually only post if drank. If suber, I suffer for hours daily trying to keep up with all things AU on this board, intolerably, from too many retarded posts from a select group of shitheads until I can no longer tolerate full retard or slow death retard shiteheadedness, which ultimately drives me to drink and post my monthly post. If you don't want to read my stupid posts, then please stop making me fricking post. And more importantly (by a hair), PLEASE quit killing my liver, you few stupid frickers.

I am sending plenty of envy to all ya'll back home from beautiful Mt. Fuji. I will be right there with you every Sunday a.m. (this time) as always. Envious! Anyone in JHS on Saturday, please add my voice to yours, and listen for mine, 'cause it's coming your way (it will take some time to hear it with the time difference and all).

As always, open invite for the decent 80% of you to visit us here. I reserve the right to identify the 20% (or less, I hope) of shitty people posters. Southern hospitality in Japan, going on 20 years. To the 20% shitty posters - I am more than happy to help with info, questions, whatever, anytime. You are just not welcome at this time. Become a better poster.

I will end this here. Good night and War Eagle and I imagine the vast majority of posters on this board have not and never would care enough to read through this admittedly rather long message on the AU Sports Board. That is fine. If you, however, have taken the time for whatever reason to read my crappy message to this point, personally, I think that is awesome. I was born in Auburn in '70, grad'd in '94 (zoology) and have been in Japan ever since. Let me know if I can help with anything, connect anyone, whatever. We have space here - welcome always. Inlaws run great restaurants. Trout fishing, snowboarding, hot springs, sloots, tech., anime, manga, food. Whatever. Don't misunderestimate (God bless W.!) the value in reading for knowledge, to connect, to understand and learn. War Damn. Frick TAMU! Get in touch for any reason if I can help.

no excuse for not putting max effort into both. Fact is, he just isn't a great WR coach or motivator (with regards to effort). He's a player's coach/ ra-ra kind of guy that has swag and relates to recruits.

This is really one of the stupidest complaints this boatd has. Many HS play the best athlete at qb, it has been going on for decades. But recruiting ranking have convince you that it is an issue.

Maybe Louis and Ray just had subpar hands. Both are gone and the drops have gone down.

Craig is a great recruiter. Beyond that meh...

JABO, Duke, and now maybe some Boogers, are being infected. He co-signs their BS, thus ensuring further bad behavior.

Any coach who celebrates with the opposing QB after losing the Natty, has to GO!

fact is we may not miss DC as far as coaching goes, but we sure as hell will miss him in recruiting. CDC is one of the best when it comes to bringing in the talent

Hastings has been a pleasant surprise

The "coach on the field, good hands, high motor, possession receiver" is Tre Smith 2.0 but for more than the Iron Bowl. Will has AU legend written all over him.

30 for 30: "What if I told you the walk on kicker would one day walk off the field receiving the College Football Playoff trophy? The little engine that could, Will Hastings on ESPN 30 for 30".

It really is stupid... the Ryan Davis has played the most snaps of any WR this season... Marcus Davis is 2nd. Both are former HS qbs.

Those are the two guys the coaches trust the most.

Really. Who do you think let Duke run rampant through the locker room and do his best to dismantle the team?

Seemed like DC liked the thug players and was the grease guy.

I agree that WR coaches can affect the performance of players. I'm just saying that I don't believe DCraig was the source of say Ricardo Louis' ability to bat balls to the ground

Hastings is a great story for sure. It makes you wonder how many other kids get missed in high school and give up the game entirely?
