He'll resign before the end of the school year. Malzahn will get another season, but Jacobs should not get another opportunity to hire a new football coach. Two winning conference records since 2007 is unacceptable.

The fire Jacobs threads are retarded. In 2010 everyone through Jacobs was a genius in seeing what others didn't see in Chizik and we won a football championship and Jacobs hired a great up and comer Basketball coach in Barbee. neither panned out and then in 2013 he was a genius again bringing Malzahn back to the plains. In the middle of all of it, he hired a great baseball coach in Sunny Galloway and Bruce Pearl and now another great baseball hire in Thompson.

The fact is, the worst hire he made in Chizik brought us a championship and the other coaches just didn't pan out.

When Jacobs was hired, a couple of coaches didn't like the decision to simply promote someone within the AD—they were good coaches too! It would have better to execute a process to find a new AD and not be afraid of branching out.

I don't know why our AD has a mentality of favoring Auburn people for higher profile positions. Do you think if Gus and GC didn't have Auburn connections they would've been hired? Probably not, and I feel as if that's a strong point showing a certain level of ineptitude in hiring.

The Bruce Pearl hire was probably the best thing our AD has done in a LONG time—but the decision to pursue Pearl was kind of obvious. JJ didn't have to think for that one. shite, if we didn't land Pearl I'd hate to think who we'd settle for.

Chizik-Won a championship. Still a bad hire.
Barbee- Ended up Bad but our program was horrible and it seemed like a pretty good hire.
Gus- TBD
Bruce-Homerun
Golloway- Terrible.
Thompson- Seems like a pretty good hire

There's zero consistency with our programs.

The fact is Jacobs just isn't a competent AD when it comes to making hires. When Chizik failed, his job was on the line, and the best he could do was Malzahn? (This isn't a copout on my part with how the season is going. Never liked it from the start). Malzahn will eventually be fired just like Chizik was, the baseball program is a mess, the women's basketball coach will likely be canned after this season.

The only beacon of hope with our major programs is men's basketball. Jacobs deserves some credit for landing Pearl, but my God, you've got Tony freakin' Barbee (another failed hire) as your coach with Pearl available. Any AD with half a brain would've given Pearl a call in that situation.

Jacobs should've been gone when Chizik didn't work. The athletic department needs a fresh set of eyes that isn't always looking to hire "Auburn men."

Chizik — Auburn man
Barbee — Woof (although I can't really blame JJ here)
Gus — Auburn man
Bruce — Great hire, but an obvious one
Golloway — JJ wanted to hire the Auburn man in Thompson originally but was under pressure to hire a proven winner at the time.
Thompson — Auburn man eventually hired

a. Barbee was an up and comer that most thought would be able to get us to NIT consistently.

b. not sure what you mean by having Barbee when Pearl was available. even when we hired Pearl, he couldn't recruit for a month or two before his banishment was up.

Golloway wasn't a bad hire and he was improving the team. He is just a son of a bitch to deal with and you can't be that way unless you are elite.

Most ADs miss on most hires. Foley at UF is 2-4 if you count McElwain as a win in football. No one gives a shite about sports that you can't sell tickets to unless it fits their argument. Mentioning shitcanning the softball coach is laughable since no one gives a shite about them just like tennis. We only cared about swimming when we were winning championships.

Jacobs simply promoted Hawke to HC when we needed a new coach. There was no process that occurred to find a new coach. This is after JJ ran off David Marsh who is a legend of a swim coach.

After Bruce takes Auburn back to the NCAA tournament this year will JJ still need to resign?

If you look at Auburns historical record against SEC foes in all sports, we are the worst in the conference over the 10 years of Jay Jacobs tenure. (that analysis was done by a professor at the AU school of business).

Jacobs needs to be fired. frick resigning.

In fairness to the OP, I have reason to believe that he may not be too far off. It will be done to appear as a random occurrence, like when Lashlee is fir...er, I mean takes another job.

JJ's days are numbered, unless a miracle occurs.
