When tuberville was here, he would always have a game where the team seemed unprepared. But also, we would always have a game on the road that we came in supremely prepared for and knocked off somebody. I always felt like we had a chance. With Gus I don't feel like we have a chance against a comparably talented team with a good coaching staff. We could play Clemson in 10 times and we'd lose 10 times because Gus cannot compete against an astute coaching staff.

Tubs was all knocking off top 10 teams and losing to bottom rung teams.

Malzahn in large part has lost to teams we should probably lose to and beat teams we should probably beat. Sure, he lost games to better teams we could have won (Clemson, FSU) but it's probably a stretch to say we were outright better.

But that has changed recently IMO. LSU last year was a hiccup. LSU ended up being ok, it wasn't a Tubs style loss. But it was a break in the pattern for me. UGA in the SECCG sucked, but I'm not sure we can read a ton into that. UCF was an obvious letdown game everyone saw coming.

This year, we're on the verge of losing our third straight to teams we should absolutely not lose to. That's unprecedented under Gus. LSU may just be better than us, but Tennessee and MSU probably aren't. I think we're in uncharted territory with Gus.

It's somewhat amusing that I've been begging Gus to break out of his predictable pattern of slow start, contender mid season and slumped finish. He's obliged me by just mailing in the whole fricking year, apparently.
