It was obvious that the play calling took a serious shift once we got ahead by 20. It makes me speculate that Chip was calling plays early. Then we get a lead and I just wonder if Gus ego kicked in and it looked exactly like the Clemson game and all last season. Think about it the first quarter and a half looked like MIss St and Ole Miss games did. Then we looked like AU 2016 for 2.5 quarters.

I doubt it. That's ridiculous even for Gus (though I suppose it is possible). Gus has scripted plays that he uses early in games. Once he is off script he gets super predictable and has lots of easy to read tendencies.

No ego, premeditated.

It’s not his ego. He’s scared. I don’t know why that’s so hard to see.

He said in the post game that this is the first time since he's been coach that we got out to a lead and lost it. I'm thinking "are you fricking insane??" How about FSU in '13, how about Bama in 14, how about UGA last year? And those are just three games I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure there are others. He's flat-out delusional.

Why is it not feesable that Gus took the reigns when we got up big cause he didn’t want Chip to mess it up. In his mind maybe he was thinking I need to take this over. Keep sipping that Don Julio dude. Cause that is exactly how a egotist would do it.

Regardless of what caused it, the play calling completely changed at the end of the 1st quarter, we called 4 first down passes in the first quarter, and didn't call another 1st down pass for the rest of the game until the last two possessions when we were out of time.

To me it seems more like we have scripted plays (that are for more balanced) for the first few drives, then the playcalling goes back to old generic Gus (dive, dive, pass) after that.

Either way, it's clear Gus is way too stubborn to change at this point.

It's not at all. Lanier Sports just defends Gus no matter what. I said this earlier, but Chip scripts the first 15-20 plays and then after that there is no plan, no adjustments, nothing.

It's like watching a little league coach. With one good kid on the team you run the same thing over and over again. All we do is run Kerryon out to middle and chuck it 50 yards downfield.

I. am not defending him at all. I have said it was his fault

But to say Chip called the game till we we're 20-0 then Gus took over is pretty dumb

Now hold on, give Gus credit. He's doubled his playbook from last year. We now run up in the middle AND throw it 50 yards. Last year we didn't throw it.

Next year he adds a new wrinkle. Slants.

HCs are responsible for the direction of the game and philosophy. They went full turtle. Either Gus directed it or he didn't stop it.

I agree. I don't understand why the play calling was so poor in the 2nd half though. We should have gone all UK and run wildcat the entire 2nd half.

I agree with you. But that is not what he is trying to say.

It was a total clusterfrick ad he gets all the blame.

There is not defending it and I have not done that one time tonight. Its on him and he desefrves everything he gets from it

Yeah, I know. He's not technically correct but he's conceptually correct.

I was at the game and talked to an offensive starter after the game (a friend). He said Gus was calling the plays in the second half.

Gus always scripts first plays.

Playing like a coward lost the game. Whe you dont go for it on 4th and 1/2 a yard and then are so scared you call time to go fir it on 4th an 10. Your scared actions cost the game.

I don't have a friend on the team and I already knew Gus was calling the plays. It was the same shot we have seen before. The man is a fool and should have let Lindsey stay in control.
